If you're an audio engineer, you can now measure your RTA and calibrate your monitors using your iOS device and the i437L from MicW. The i437L is an electret condenser microphone designed to execute frequency and level analyzation for audio engineers and technicians in live venues, recording facilities, and personal studios. Use the mic for SPL metering, room response measurements, and monitor calibration, effectively giving you an RTA of your space.

Can this microphone be calibrated for use with OSHA noise level screening?
Yes. You will need a good App like SoundMeter X from Faber Acoustical.
Also a calibration source, ideally with a coupler to fit the microphone. You can make an adapter for the coupler by cutting rigid plastic tubing to fit the calibrator.
You can also calibrate "free field" by using an SLM to measure nearby white noise and calibrate the App to that reading.

question
Can this measure how quiet a room with some accuracy or is it strictly loudness meter?
Its sensitive enough for that, although I have not tried it in that application. It will be more based on the app used than the mic itself. I am pleased with the purchase, I use it at foh as with my iPad as an RTA.
