OMEN 27" 16:9 LCD Gaming Monitor is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Monitor & outstanding B&H Service Pros- 1440p, extra screen real estate, 1ms response time,144hz refresh rate, gsync, styling. Cons- Doesn't have the visual pop of my old HP w2408h, colors are flatter even after calibration, HP My Display software shipped with monitor will not run on Win10. First a shout out to B&H. I ordered this monitor on Tuesday with an expected receive date of today, but actually got the monitor yesterday. Also they didn't charge a handling fee and tax like Amazon, but had this monitor for the same price as Amazon. So they saved me $$ and got me the monitor (across the country) in only 2 days. 6 stars out of 5 for B&H! Now for the Omen and the good stuff. If, not even turned on, looks could kill, I'd be dead. This is a sexy looking monitor, and I love the screen to the edge design. It's got a mean design look, fitting of it's Omen name. It's also height, tilt and rotation adjustable, and comes with a vesa mount as well as the normal stand. Ergonomically, it's just about perfect. Quality of the monitor is great, with nary a dead pixel that I can find, and no backlight bleed or visual anomalies. Off angle viewing is also surprisingly good for a TN. It was also very securely packaged to protect the monitor, using polystyrene molds to hold the monitor. It comes with every cable you could possibly need as well, so no extras needed at purchase time either. Now for the cons, one of which is probably because I've been spoiled by my old monitor. My HP w2408h was visually stunning. It had the glossy screen, and vibrant color. This monitor has a mat screen, and I think because of that, just doesn't have the visual pop that the w2408h had. Especially using any of the preset color schemes. They all look muddy and grayish, with no visual bang. After a lot of tweaking and calibrating, I was able to get closer to the w2408h, but not quite, and I never had to tweak a thing on the w2408h for that vibrant look. The other issue is the disk that comes with the monitor has the old version of the My HP Display software, which won't run on Win10 Creators Edition. HP's website also doesn't have a current version download for the software anywhere. I had to resort to the HP forums and dig though a 5 page post of others having the same problem, to finally find a link for the current version from the 3rd party that developed the software for HP. After downloading and installing that version, I was finally able to run the software, and calibrate the monitor and adjust the colors. For that hassle, I knocked off a star. HP needs to post a link to the new software version with the drivers on their support page, to resolve that issue. Other than that, this monitor is great. I've changed my game settings from 1080p 60hz to 1440p 144hz, and the monitor definitely gets a wow on that front. 1440p at 144hz looks awesome! Overall I'd say this is a very good monitor and probably worth the $697 price tag, although for a 27 TN, I think $550 would be more applicable. Still, I'm enjoying it and would definitely recommend it as priced.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good monitor but pricey for a TN panel Quality- HP clearly has good quality control, as there are no dead pixels and I've had no issues at all with the monitor. The stand is solid and has lots of adjustments, and it's sexy just to look at powered off. Color/visuals- I went from a glossy screen HP w2408h 1080p monitor to this one, and the colors aren't as vibrant on the Omen. Probably due to a combination of the matte screen and TN panel. With some adjustments to color temps it get's closer, but not quite there and just doesn't have the visual pop that the w2408h had. Viewing angles are better than I expected for a TN panel though, but definitely not as good as an IPS monitor. Resolution/viewing- The jump from 1080p to 1440p made a noticeable difference, and thanks to the very thin bezel, it has much more screen real estate, while only physically being about 1 inch wider than my old 24 1080p monitor. There is also no backlight bleed at all, and you subsequently get nice dark blacks in games, videos and images. Gsync- The 144mhz (or 165mhz if you use overdrive) g-sync option makes a big difference. Running benchmarks in ROTR and GR Wildlands, my benchmark scores doubled from the old monitor, despite the jump from 1080p to 1440p, since the games were not longer limited to 60fps. B&H- They are awesome! They had the lowest price for this monitor, and I received it within 72 hours of ordering it, even though I selected standard shipping! Great job folks! Overall- The 27 Omen is a good monitor and I'm enjoying the bump to 1440p, I just think it's overpriced for a TN panel. You can get a 27 IPS gsync panel for about $100 more. Granted you get a better response time with a TN and don't have the backlight bleed issues IPS panels do, but the colors just don't pop on a TN like they do on an IPS. It's a good monitor and I would recommend it, I just think it should be $75 to $100 less than it is.
