With this radio, users can also take advantage of CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) and DCS (Digital-Coded Squelch) to communicate privately using one of the 121 privacy codes. Two rechargeable 1000mAh battery packs and a drop-in charging station are included to conveniently charge both radios simultaneously. The radio's are fine if you don't need any volume and its quiet around you. If you are on any kind of equipment like a lawn mower you can only identify somebody is talking to you with the microphone receiver near your ear it is simply a whisper. None of the over the ear microphones are comfortable enough for me to wear and use.... in fact quiet painful is worn for and extended time.

The FCC authorizes 22 channels for FRS and GRMS. A small number of radios provide an additional 8 GMRS repeater channels. Does this radio provide repeater channels? In any case, where does the 38 channel figure come from?
The T77VP5 is an FRS radio and does not have repeater channels. The additional channels (23-38) are channels with hard-coded privacy codes attached to them. The manual provides more detailed information.
