LG B7A overview

  • 1Description

View content at four times the resolution of 1080p with the LG B7A-Series 55"-Class UHD Smart OLED TV. It will upscale lower-resolution video sources to near-4K quality for improved clarity. This TV has a 54.6" OLED display for enhanced black levels and virtually infinite contrast. Supporting the HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG standards for HDR, the B7A can display a wider range of color with compatible content than non-HDR TVs.

The B7A has built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity to allow access to your favorite apps and Internet-based content via the LG Content Store and the integrated web browser. You can use your tablet or smartphone for media sharing and screen mirroring on the B7A. With four HDMI inputs, there are multiple options for connecting high-definition video sources. It also features a composite RCA input for analog sources. Three USB ports are onboard for connecting multimedia peripherals like flash drives.

Note: Content acquired via certain apps may require subscription to a service.

Perfect Black
OLED pixels create their own light, and can switch off to achieve perfect black levels with zero light bleed, revealing enhanced shadow detail while providing a foundation for color and contrast.
Active HDR with Dolby Vision
Active HDR analyzes and optimizes HDR10 content scene-by-scene for an augmented High Dynamic Range experience. The B7A-series also supports Dolby Vision as well as the backward-compatible HLG HDR standard.
Billion Rich Colors
The availability of a billion rich colors gives the TV a palette 64-times broader than conventional televisions, to reproduce images with more subtle and precise gradations for a more lifelike picture.

    LG B7A reviews

B7A-Series 55"-Class HDR UHD Smart OLED TV is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome I didn't think we needed this (half the time we watch in laptops...) but our previous TV was some 12 years old and showing it. This was a splurge, as I wasn't thinking of OLED. The TV is amazing, and Netflix UHD streaming is beautiful on it. Now I hate watching in a laptop. It's also nice looking, easy to use. Delivery was a bit slow during the holidays but B&H has a trucking service bring it for extra care, and it was worth the wait. Very pleased. (I purchased a bundled sound bar, the SJ8; will review it separately. It's fine, and nicely integrated, but I'd prefer the SJ9 for some more volume when streaming music.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my new TV I owned a Samsung Plasma 55" and it committed suicide (don't ask) in November of 2016...............on my birthday, no less. Anyway, I got a 55" Samsung SUHD and hated it for a year. I could never get the set to come close to my plasma and the "off angle" viewing was terrible. Finally, I was reading about the OLED sets and the tech said, "if you like plasma, OLED is as close as it gets." well. that sold me. The LG had great reviews and it was at a crazy discounted price. Ordered it from B&H and had it in a few days. TV arrived in perfect condition, setup the TV and I am loving it. Great picture and off angle is great too. I love this TV

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing Bought 4 months ago. HDMI 2 and HDMI 3 ports don't work right. Didn't know until I had a professional hang and install system more than 1 month after I purchased it from B and H. LG has responded. Initially to tell me it wasn't covered under warranty and then to give me a number to call locally for service. I'm supposed to have it uninstalled from wall before service, though. Great. I'm concerned there is a bigger problem with the board if these 2 don't work now, other stuff might not work later. I'll jump through the hoops to make this right, but it is extremely inconvenient.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid but not "perfect" LG touts "perfect blacks" in its marketing literature for this and similar OLED screens. Black levels are very nearly faultless, but there is a discernible pattern under dark room viewing conditions on my B7A that I would describe as slightly splotchy. It is very rare to see this under ordinary viewing conditions, but if you are a troglodyte who enjoys your media consumption in the inkiest blackness, you may notice something similar on occasion. The high dynamic range (HDR) performance of this TV is not as punchy as that offered by screens with LCD panels—at this moment, that is apparently a limitation of the technology, not a poor implementation by LG. It's just something to be aware of if you like high-key colors that electrify the viewing experience with their brightness. The B7A color brightness is more restrained than LCD panels and produces an impressive and accurate color gamut that may not have the vibrance to sear your retinas, but it will consistently amaze with its combination of natural color reproduction and stunning contrast levels. The screen itself has a glossy finish, and even though the anti-reflective filters are very effective at diminishing bright light sources behind the viewer, I would say this TV may be best enjoyed in a room that is not brightly sunlit. For bright rooms, the QLED screes seem to enjoy a great reputation for dealing with bright light sources in the viewing environment. Fair warning: to activate certain TV features (apps, etc.) and to register your purchase for warranty purposes, you will have to assent to LG's terms & conditions. Gone are the days when you filled in a warranty card and simply received service when something went wrong. I did not agree to the T&Cs of their data protection policy, so I have to hope I never need service from the manufacturer. Maybe that's what they prefer. A soundbar is a recommended accessory for this TV, IMO. Overall, this extremely impressive TV is a great compliment to my media and viewing habits. Movies look jaw-droppingly good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST LOOKING MONITOR EVER Having worked for 38 years in the Broadcast and Film Production world this is the best looking picture I have ever seen on a monitor. I did a quick calibration with a Video Forge Pro in the ISF Dark Mode and am amazed and both the color depth and the Highlight handling. This is just an amazing monitor. The handles for calibration are very complete with both 2 and 20 point cal along with RGBYCM and HLC controls. Best Monitor Ever and a Great Price

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Update: Solid but not "perfect" It turns out the imperfect blacks I saw in some circumstances are due to a combination of a higher-than-base black level on a connected device and a TV brightness setting that was just a smidgen too high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific Television Love our new LG OLED TV. Spectacular picture, reasonably simple to configure. B&H delivery was uneventful (one man) and undamaged. Glad B&H uses a private shipping company. Regrettably, most of the other items I want to connect to the TV are obsolete. Technology marches on.
