The Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ 263AT Aluminum Tripod supports up to 15.4 lb, measures 24.6" when folded, and can be positioned to a maximum height of 64" with its push-and-pull, rapid center column fully raised. Its 3-section legs each feature an independent 20°, 40°, 60°, or 80° spread as well as 35° twist locks for rapid adjustments. Tripod heads, cameras, lenses, or sport optics that are compatible with 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 male threads connect to the top of the tripod's stable, hexagonal, cross arm-type center column that can be positioned horizontally like a small boom in in 15° increments. This allows for a very low minimum working of 15.4" that's ideal for macro work. A tripod bag with shoulder strap is included for storage and transport.

MACC (Multi-Angle Center Column) System

The innovative Multi-Angle Central Column (MACC) System allows users to move the central column from zero to 180-degree angles in variable vertical and horizontal positions making macro-photography and special wide-angle shots easy.

Leg Angle Selector

Achieve ideal positioning and balance of the tripod to match any working terrain, by using the 3-angle leg setting options of 20°, 40°, 60°, or 80°.

Rugged Build and Stability Features

The patented premium magnesium die-cast canopy and head, hexagon-shaped central column for extra stability, and non-slip, spiked rubber feet for changing terrains.

Vanguard 263AT Reviews

Very nice tripod.

I saw a video by Mike Moats on this tripod being used for macro photography. So I thought I would give it a try. It is very sturdy. Holds my D810 FF body and 105mm macro lens with ease. Yes, you must make sure when the column is parallel to the ground that the weight distribution is such that the tripod will not tip. But that is basic physics. Very happy with the purchase.

Bad design, unstable

If a tripod does nothing else, it must be stable. This tripod is not at all. It is a new design and it seems to have a major design flaw with the center column. No matter how much you tighten it down there is alot of play in it. I though I may have had a defective one so they sent a replacement but it has the same issue. Do not buy until they work out the design.

Great purchase , couldn't be happier!

The tripod is exactly what I wanted and needed for my photography. It is extremely easy to use and very functional especially for Macro photography. I would recommend this tripod to anyone looking for a versatile tool to aid in their photography needs. Couldn't be happier with the item!

It seems to be a very well constructed and well thought-out tripod with macro lovers in mind.  I havent yet used it out of doors, but I think it will work quite well for me.  It took quite a while, even with instructions, for my husband & I to figure out how to use it (duh) but once we did its easy to adjust.   I am well pleased with this purchase.

Versatile

I bought the Vanguard tripod specifically because of the ease of changing the center column to various degrees of horizontal. Very quick and easy. I have an older Bogen/Manfrotto 3001Pro tripod, which is comparable to the Vanguard. The center column on the Manfrotto also can be used horizontally, but the changeover is not as quick as with the Vanguard. Also, the Manfrotto center column is either totally vertical, or totally horizontal whereas the Vanguard center column can be anything between vertical and horizontal, making it much more versatile than the Manfrotto. One issue with the Vanguard prevent me from giving it 5 stars. the Center column on the Manfrotto is rock solid steady. The center column on the Vanguard is not. There is a small amount of wobble that cannot be tightened out of the Vanguard.

I have this tripod. I cannot find a hook on the center column or anywhere else. There is a hole below the bubble level, is that where a hook is suppose to be attached?
