Vanguard ALTA PRO 2+ 263AT Overview

  • 1Description

The Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ 264AT Aluminum Tripod supports up to 15.4 lb, measures 24.6" when folded, and can be positioned to a maximum height of 64" with its push-and-pull, rapid center column fully raised. Its 3-section legs each feature an independent 20°, 40°, 60°, or 80° spread as well as 35° twist locks for rapid adjustments. Non-slip, all-weather TPU grips on two of the legs provide a secure, comfortable grip while moving the tripod, and rubber feet enhance stability on a wide variety of surfaces. The center column has a hook for attaching a counterweight for even greater stability.

Tripod heads, cameras, lenses, or sport optics that are compatible with 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 male threads connect to the top of the tripod's stable, hexagonal, cross arm-type center column that can be positioned horizontally like a small boom in in 15° increments. This allows for a very low minimum working of 15.4" that's ideal for macro work. A tripod bag with shoulder strap is included for storage and transport.

MACC (Multi-Angle Center Column) System
The innovative Multi-Angle Central Column (MACC) System allows users to move the central column from zero to 180-degree angles in variable vertical and horizontal positions making macro-photography and special wide-angle shots easy.
Leg Angle Selector
Achieve ideal positioning and balance of the tripod to match any working terrain, by using the 3-angle leg setting options of 20°, 40°, 60°, or 80°.
Rugged Build and Stability Features
The patented premium magnesium die-cast canopy and head, hexagon-shaped central column for extra stability, and non-slip, spiked rubber feet for changing terrains.

Vanguard ALTA PRO 2+ 263AT Reviews

Alta Pro 2+ 263AT Aluminum Tripod is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile I bought the Vanguard tripod specifically because of the ease of changing the center column to? various degrees of horizontal.? Very quick and easy.? I have an older Bogen/Manfrotto 3001Pro tripod, which is comparable to the? Vanguard.? The center column on the Manfrotto also can be used horizontally, but the changeover is not as quick as with the Vanguard.? Also, the Manfrotto center column is either totally vertical, or totally horizontal whereas the Vanguard center column can be anything between vertical and horizontal, making it much more versatile than the Manfrotto.? One issue with the Vanguard prevent me from giving it 5 stars. ? the Center column on the Manfrotto is rock solid steady.? The center column on the Vanguard is not.? There is a small amount of wobble that cannot be tightened out of the Vanguard.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad design, unstable If a tripod does nothing else, it must be stable. This tripod is not at all. It is a new design and it seems to have a major design flaw with the center column. No matter how much you tighten it down there is alot of play in it. I though I may have had a defective one so they sent a replacement but it has the same issue. Do not buy until they work out the design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Im Content with This Purchase It seems to be a very well constructed and well thought-out tripod with macro lovers in mind.  I havent yet used it out of doors, but I think it will work quite well for me.  It took quite a while, even with instructions, for my husband & I to figure out how to use it (duh) but once we did its easy to adjust.   I am well pleased with this purchase.
