Lightweight chassis + slim bezels = capable command center
Found in: Work Laptops

The 14" ZenBook UX430UA Notebook from Asus is a thin, lightweight, and compact system designed for users seeking a balance between portability and screen size. It features a 14" 1920 x 1080 Full HD display, driven by integrated Intel HD graphics, within a 13" chassis thanks to its ultra-slim bezels. At 15.9mm thin and weighing 2.87 pounds, the UX430 is easily portable and packs an all-day battery to match. Performance-wise, it's powered by a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7-7500U dual-core processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB M.2 solid-state drive. Should you need more space, you can connect external storage solutions using its multiple USB ports, one of which features a Type-C interface, as well as its media card reader.

Connect to the Internet via 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, and pair compatible wireless peripherals using Bluetooth 4.1 technology to free up USB ports for more important devices. Other integrated features include a Micro HDMI port, an HD webcam, a fingerprint reader, a backlit keyboard, microphones, speakers, and a 3.5 mm mic/headphone jack. The operating system installed is Windows 10 Home (64-Bit).

13" Chassis & NanoEdge Display
The ZenBook UX430 features a 14" display in a compact 13" chassis with 7.18 mm bezels. It also has an ultra-wide 100% sRGB color gamut for accurate and vivid colors, as well as 178° viewing angles for easier screen sharing. Moreover, its 80% screen-to-body ratio provides you with a more immersive viewing experience.
All Day Battery
With a 50 Wh lithium-polymer battery rated to last up to 9 hours of use, the ZenBook UX430 is great for on-the-go users. Actual battery life will depend on use.
Keyboard & Touchpad
The ZenBook UX430 is equipped with a notebook-sized keyboard and built-in backlighting so you'll be able to type even in dimly lit environments. It has a 1.4mm key travel optimized for a comfortable feel, and a touchpad with palm rejection technology and multi-finger gesture and handwriting support.
Fingerprint Sensor
Using the built-in fingerprint sensor in the touchpad and Windows Hello, you'll be able to log into your system without a password.
SonicMaster Audio
Created by the Asus Golden Ear team and Harman Kardon, Asus SonicMaster audio technology delivers loud and accurate sounds without distortion for a more enjoyable listening experience.
Asus Splendid
Asus Splendid technology optimizes the display on the ZenBook UX430 for richer and deeper colors. It also includes Eye Care mode, which reduces the amount of blue light emissions to protect your eyes and reduce fatigue over long periods of use. If it doesn't suit you, you can manually adjust the settings to fit your preferences.
1-Year Asus ADP Coverage
This notebook includes 1-year ADP (Accidental Damage Protection) coverage against liquid spills, electrical surges, and drops. It provides you with one-way free shipping, a 30-Day Zero Bright Dot guarantee, 2-way free shipping for standard warranty repair, and 24/7 tech support.

Windows 10

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the Internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information-gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    ASUS UX430 reviews

14" ZenBook UX430UA Notebook (Royal Blue) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Backlight on Keyboard not working, great support from ASUS Disappointing to have a new notebook with an issue from the outset. The backlighting on the keyboard did not work. I have to congratulate ASUS on its customer support though. Working over a whole evening with 3 different representatives, new drivers were installed, a factory reset completed and new drivers installed again, but all to no avail. ASUS sent the necessary authorization for return to ASUS service centre. I shipped it yesterday and look forward to having it back and working properly in 7-10 days. Apart from the fact that the backlighting did not work, I am impressed with the notebook and hope this comes to a perfect conclusion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what you expect, or alternatively, better 4 day review (I'll update if anything changes) Pros: So light I may forget I am carrying it Quote from Glary Utils: "Your boot time- 14 seconds. 99% of users are slower." Solid. Backlit keyboard. Color is a muted blue so it doesn't catch the eye of snatchers. Battery life- I actually got more than 9 hours (what it is rated) on the lowest brightness in airplane mode typing in Word. The fingerprint reader is useful for logging in even faster while remaining secure. I love the 13.3" chassis that has a 14" screen inside. The screen has beautiful color compared to my last computer (a Lenovo Flex 4). Cons: 2 USB ports (and one 2.0...) Really bad fingerprint magnet Not much, really.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Touchpad issues This was so close to perfect. Goddamit. Mine is constantly giving BSODs due to the ASUS trackpad drivers, and no combination of Windows Updates (even Creators) and drivers has fixed this issue. The screen and blue body is gorgeous, and the specs have good value, but that's all useless when your computer can't even function. Sure you could disable the trackpad entirely and use a mouse, but then why would you buy a laptop?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light/Sleek w/14 Screen, Kabylake i7 and Decent Price I have only had this Zenbook for 3 days so cannot comment on the supposed 9 hour battery life. That always depends on real-life experience over a sustained period of time. B&H stock on this UX430UA Zenbook seems to have run out quickly. For me, this laptop was an upgrade from an ASUS Zenbook Prime Touch i5 I bought in April 2013. It is still going strong; I wanted more RAM, i7, and 14 screen. I wanted to avoid Skylake (discussed below). Typical ASUS design: sleek/lightweight, brushed aluminum. I was worried the royal blue would be so bright as to be flashy. It is so dark, it is close to black; I like the look. Outside: this has a 14 screen in a 13.3 chassis. (This is accomplished by reducing the bezel.) 0.7 screen sounds trivial, but is makes a difference. So, it is the size of the 2013 Era MacBook Air with a 14 screen. Inside, this really is i7 (not the less efficient i5). 8GB RAM/256GB of SSD (from Micron) is a good deal for this price. NOW HEAR THIS: UX430UA is a 7th Gen Kabylake chipset from Intel. This is not the dreaded 6th GenSkylake series that was a disaster for Intel. Google Microsoft Surface Skylake problems or Apple MacBook Pro Skylake problems. You can find many laptops, cheaper with the Skylake chipset = headache and diminished performance. If you don't think the Skylake v. Kabylake performance difference is a big deal, ask yourself why Apple replaced the 2016 MacBook Pro so quickly after it was announced with a Kabylake model. Apple has never replaced a product so quickly, at least in my memory. The hinge--that plagued ASUS laptops for several years--seems very sturdy. I liked the design choice to avoid 2K or 4K screen. That just drains the battery more. The 1920 x 1080 (Apple calls this retina) resolution is fine. Knocks? The power cord (which B&H list as 45W, but ASUS says is 65W). It seems dumb to have a USB Type C port and then not use it to power the laptop; I guess you can use to can use the (near useless ) USC C port to charge an Android phone (but not very quickly). About the only practical use of the USB C port (which is 3.0 and not 2.) would be use for a USB C travel hub. Also, one of the Type A USB ports is USB 2.0; I wonder how much ASUS saved by making 1 point USB 2.0 instead of both ports USB 3.0? It is a big annoying to have to remember which port is 2.0 and which is 3.0. Also, I did install in the UX430UA another fan profile for this laptop, and it is quieter now. It is described at this video: These knocks are pretty minor stuff. I am pleased with the design, specs, 14 screen, Kabylake i7, and 2.9 lb. weight of this laptop. At $799 as of this writing. Final point: minimal adware software from ASUS. Adware is not a big deal in any event since Windows 10 makes it quite easy to remove OEM adware. But there was so little of that nonsense from ASUS that I did not even bother to clean off. Hats off to ASUS!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from overall good Great appearance and fantastic screen! But am a little disappointed with the lound fan noise. That's my first glance at it. The specific performance on powerful application is not tested.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B&H is best among its competitors, about laptop need time. As for laptop hasn't shown any issues (I am optimal user so don't rely purely on my review about product) and for now all i can describe about it's looks and B&H service. 1. Laptop is sleek and best for it's price range (Thanks for B&H for discount) 2. Payments are easy with B&H and they call and confirm immediately about the order which makes new customers to know genuinity of B&H.(I am impressed with B&H) 3. B&H promised customs clearance with nominal chargers but it's very fair and we no need to worry about customs, all you have do is pay customs amount along with product. However, I had received my product one day late without any intimation from handling team.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product A+++ Pros: great laptop!! really fast! light weight.. Cons: update took 2-3 hrs

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A notable ultrabook I was looking for a lightweight/portable laptop able to handle some code/number crunching with a bit of light gaming; this did not disappoint. The M.2 Storage and i7 CPU deliver the speed i need, and the integrated GPU is fine for many applications. The screen isn't the brightest but there is little glare. The keyboard is back-lit and the keys have a nice travel. The overall build quality is quite nice. Great productivity laptop
