  • 1Description

Immerse yourself in your multimedia content with the U3818DW 37.5" 21:9 Curved IPS Monitor from Dell. With a 21:9 aspect ratio and 2300R curvature, each portion of the screen is at an equal distance from the eye. In addition to the immersive curvature of this IPS (In-Plane Switching) Dell monitor, viewers can take advantage of the 3840 x 1600 resolution along with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, a 350 cd/m² brightness rating, and a 5 ms response time for enhanced clarity and reduced ghosting and blur. If color accuracy is what you need, the U3818DW covers 99% of the sRGB color space, 99% of the REC 709 color space, and 78.1% of the DCI-P3 color space.

Setup and configuration of the Dell U3818DW is simple as it comes equipped with DisplayPort and HDMI inputs. You can also plug USB compatible peripherals such as hard drives, mice, and keyboards, directly into the displays USB 3.0 ports. Once configured the display can be tilted, swiveled, pivoted, and the height can be adjusted, making it easy to take full advantage of the 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles.

Expansive Screen
The expansiveness of this 37.5-inch curved screen paired with virtually borderless InfinityEdge creates a near-complete field view, which provides an almost uniform visual focus that reduces eye movement across the screen.

The curved screen delivers a panoramic viewing experience while integrated 9W speakers bring the quality sound.
Consistent Color & Improved Detail
You can expect improved detail and consistent color across a wide viewing angle with the WQHD+ 3840 x 1600 screen featuring In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology. Your monitor also comes with 99% sRGB factory calibration for impressively precise color at Delta-E less than 2. Dell U3818DW Reviews

    U3818DW 37.5- 21:9 Curved IPS Monitor is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The most gorgeous and functional monitor I've ever seen This monitor is spectacular. B&H had the cheapest price for this brand-new (June 2017) monitor, and so I leapt at the opportunity. I used it to replace my current dual-monitor setup - one of which I'd already replaced capacitors for, and the second of which was about to blow as well. Pros: -The curve is perfect - not too small a radius - not much distortion evident in any windows, and also not too large a radius - everything is crisp no matter where I turn my head. -It's huge! Both in physical dimension (one's entire field of vision is filled) and in pixel density (it has nearly twice as much real estate as both my old monitors combined, and all without an annoying break in the middle). -Colors are fantastic - no anomalies that I can see, no ghosting, and no bright spots on any corners - Dell have definitely upped their game for this one. -Quiet - no capacitor whine at all, in any state. Cons: -I've been trying to think of some, but I can't come up with any yet. It's physically large and a bit bulky, but it's also surprisingly light, so that's not even an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding monitor! I use it for Photoshop & Lightroom on a MacBookPro. Although the monitor is tested for Windows machines, It works fine when connected to a Mac. I read the reviews before purchasing and my expectations were surprisingly exceeded.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One NEW & One Open Box I bought 2 of these monitors. Both worked from the get-go, and function perfectly. WIN10 correctly installed the drivers. Just be sure everything is connected correctly BEFORE you turn on the computer I use this with a Sapphire video card. I now have DELL 2-34" on top, and 2-38" on the bottom (each pair side-by-side). Use these primarily for market chart displays for trading.? Curved monitors?are very nice, because of the short viewing?distances. I can read text comfortably at 34". NICE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitor This 38" beast replaces two 24" monitors that I have been using and is much nicer.? It is a great monitor, plug it in and away you go and I don’t seem to have the banding issues that some users talk about. The colors are bright and the monitor is razor sharp with a very nice stand that has decent cable management. There is actually only one thing I have to complain about, and that is the “Dell Display Manager” software that comes with it. There are no instructions and you have to search online for solutions. For instance, the software starts at boot-up and defaults to split screen, vertical line in the middle, and there is no way to change this. So, when you open an application and try to move it, it goes to the nearest split and expands to fill it. I learned online that you can hold the shift key and prevent this, but I opted to prevent the software from opening on startup (Auto-Load) by holding down the Shift key while right-clicking the “Dell Display Manager” system tray icon, and selecting from the popup menu. Also, the is a command language supported via the command-line. Though there is a list of commands, there are no values supplied for those commands. For instance, “SetGridType [X] - changes Easy Arrange grid type to X”. But there are 20 different screen configurations plus one that the user can customize. What are the optional values for 'X'? The only way to find out is by trail and error. Other than the above, everything else is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant We have several of these in the office and each one of them is wonderful. It's hard to understand just how much work-space without actually sitting down with one and it's equally hard to go back to a regular sized screen after using the u3818dw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product I have a macbook that I was using to work on my phd at home.? The little screen was just killing my eyes, especially with multiple apps open.? Not any more.? This 38" monitor is AWESOME.? It is the daddy rabbit.? Colors are absolutely amazing.? The sound is great too.? Hookup was a breeze via HDMI cable.? And the size allows 3-4 full size pages up at one time.? In the end, I am very pleased with this monitor and do not regret spending the money.? Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for multi-computer multi-screen replacement Sitting in front of this is like looking out the windshield in your car from the drivers seat.  Its expansive.  If youve worked with multiple monitors and the bezels that break up the visual flow, its amazing what dropping that does visually.  I have the monitor hooked up to a new mac mini with an eGPU that uses either / both of the USB-C and display port connections.  It also has a ThinkPad hooked up via HDMI or display port and Ive tested it with a MacBook Pro over USB-C as a display and power source.  Autodetect works well when using the whole screen, but you can also use picture-by-picture to display content (without bezel) side by side when necessary.  It just works and its built like a tank and shipped that way too.  This is not a gaming monitor though.  The resolution is great.  For coding or development, there is a lot of real estate to have everything necessary displayed at once.  It works really well on photo and video editing with great color accuracy but if you push high frame rate or fast scrolling content there is some ghosting and blur that Ive noticed.  I did not buy it to game though, so this is all within expectation and I wouldnt knock off any stars for it.  I would absolutely buy it again given my needs.  If I was gaming and only using a single computer source, Id buy something else suited for that purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monitor I have been watching this monitor for quite a while and after buying a Dell Precision I made the jump. Shipping was fast and it arrived early. I didnt have to pay sales tax with B&H unlike many of the other vendors I found on-line. I would definitely recommend this monitor and B&H. I have done business with B&H for years as I manage a performing arts center and we bought a lot of professional gear from them. We always got great service.

    question

Can this monitor be hardware calibrated with either the Datacolor Spyder 5 or I1 Display pro. Any experience connecting to MacPro 2013 via HDMI?
    Asked by: Thomas J R.
The Dell U3818DW 37.5 21:9 Curved IPS Monitor B&H # DEU3818DW can be calibrated using the Datacolor Spyder Pro 5 or i1Display Pro no problem, however, this monitor does not store calibration data internally (hardware calibration), it will store a profile on your OS. For the best results on a Mac Pro, Displayport is recommended so the monitor runs at 4K 60Hz.

How good is this monitor for photo editing? I really like it! I'm planning to use it with my MacBook Pro 2017 and Photoshop and Lightroom, but I don't know how important is the Adobe RGB thing, I'm not a pro, but occasionaly I print a photobook. I'm between this and the Del UP3216Q, but I really love this one and its newer! Please help!

I've been doing a lot of reading and searching over the weekend and from what i gather if you plan to print its good to have a monitor that does adobergb.

    question

How good si this monitor for a mid 2017 MacBook Pro? For photo editing, Lightroom and Photoshop.
    Asked by: Jorge C.
I've updated to the 2017 Macbook Pro since my previous answer - verdict is that it works, the colors look really great. You'll need a USB-C to displayport cable and make sure that gets plugged in first before any other cables when connecting. Using the USB-C charging cable directly only charges and won't show a display connection, even though the monitor thinks there is one.

Has anyone tried using this display with a 2018 mac mini? I'd like to confirm it works before purchasing.
    Asked by: Brian
I’m not sure why it wouldn’t. I use it with a 2016 MacBook 12” and a 2018 MacBook Pro, both through USB-C (separately) using the KVM function to switch back and forth with a Lenovo Thinkpad and it all works fine.

    question

    Is this a gaming monitor?
    Asked by: Evan O.
This is more of a productivity monitor. I use it for both, but if youre strictly looking for a gaming monitor, there are better options for this price. Something with a higher refresh rate (this is 60hz), and GSYNC or Freesync.
