YELANGU S60T Reviews

Requires strong wrists and hands

I've been looking for a stabilizer to use with the DJI P2 to reduce bounce and swing when moving. I'd hoped this would work; sadly it does not do much to help. Even with very light weights, it is heavy. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to hand hold, for more than a few minutes at a time, with a DSLR mounted atop -- and heavier corresponding balance weights. I hope to find a use for it.

Easy set up, practice required

Going in to this purchase I knew that there would be a learning curve using a camera stabilizer. I viewed many videos and read reviews on camera stabilizers from the GlideCams to much lower priced options. Just starting out a video production company so money is tight. The Yelangu stabilizer has a smooth axis rotation in all directions on the gimbal/ handle. Weights are adjustable on the base and the shaft has a quick release extend for counterbalance. I'm using a Nikon D7500 DSLR with an 18-55 lens. Whether you decide to get this one or something more expensive, do yourself a huge favor and watch videos on how to set up any stabilizer. I had it balanced in about 10 minutes, however, I had watched an hour or more of vids to learn. So far, I find it very smooth. You will need to master the duck walk and your body is part of the shock absorbing system. The camera rotates freely on the shaft so you will need to learn the feather touch to guide the camera. This would be true with an $800 GlideCam as well. Overall build quality seems solid however some of the plastic parts wouldn't hold up to abuse. The storage bag is lightweight and I expect the zipper to stop working, but no big deal since I have moved the stabilizer into a better case with storage for the extra weights. If you are someone who takes care of their gear, then this could be a great addition to your kit.

How well will this balance a Canon 5D Mk III with the 24-105mm lens?
Asked by: Kaylee
I use a 5D Mkiii with Laowa 12 mm and 70D with Canon 10/22 mm, It works well with both. I haven't tried it with my Canon 24/105, however you should be able to adjust for the longer barrel of the 24/105. It does take PRACTICE to use, especially controlling the lateral rotation. If lateral rotation is not important to you try a two axis.

We were unable to get confirmation from Yelangu in a timely manner nor can we test so we will say that we believe that a Panasonic Lumix G7 with it 1 lb of weight should be enough to work will with this stabilizer.

question

Will it work with Panasonic G6 and 14-42 kit lens? Is my camera too light for this steadicam?
Asked by: Anonymous
This should work with the Panasonic G7 using a 14-42mm lens, B&H # PADMCG7KB. It has removable counter weights on the bottom, you can have less weights on the gimbal to balance a lighter set up.
