Bright Tangerine B1250.1077 Overview

The Bright Tangerine Black Hole Mini Rubber Donut fits on Bright Tangerine's Misfit and Misfit Atom matte boxes, as well as compatible ARRI matte boxes, allowing you to use lenses with a front outer diameter of 58 to 114mm. The rubber donut is flexible, making it especially useful for lenses that change length as they change focus. The donut snugs to your lens, allowing the lens to rotate without letting light flare your filters.

Great donut for my mattebox - shouldn't need to be said but a billion times better than the Redrock Micro foam and universal donuts. Fits snug and doesn't inhibit the focus mechanism on the Canon USM lenses we're using.

Best option for stills lenses in motion

Can you use this on a lens without rails? Will it hold the misfit atom on a run and gun setup?

We're afraid not. Rubber Donuts are designed to block out light only when a matte box is being used on a rail system. They do not provide a secure connection.

The Bright Tangerine Black Hole Mini Rubber Donut for Matte Boxes with 114mm Rear Opening (B&H# BRB12501077) is a rubber donut that is not designed to accept the insertion of any filters into it. That includes the VND filter in the Tiffen 138mm Variable ND in Matte Box-Mountable Rubber Donut for 143mm Openings (B&H# TI138VNDMBM). While it may be possible on a DIY basis to disassemble the parts and engineer a means by which to connect them, we cannot recommend nor endorse doing so. Just for the sake of clarity, the Tiffen 138mm Variable ND in Matte Box-Mountable Rubber Donut for 143mm Openings (B&H# TI138VNDMBM) includes both the rubber donut and the Tiffen ND filter within it. It is a one-piece unit that is designed as a replacement rubber donut for the rubber donut that would normally go with certain compatible matte boxes. (Please see the compatibility list at the end of the Tiffen product's Overview section.) As such, the VND incorporated into the Tifffen product is not designed to be removed and then installed in another donut such as the Bright Tangerine Black Hole Mini Rubber Donut for Matte Boxes with 114mm Rear Opening (B&H# BRB12501077).

Does this attach via pressure from the donut or a clamp on the matte box? I'm wondering if it will work with the Wooden Camera Zip Box Pro Swing Away, which doesn't have a clamp.
