I WANT to love it.

This piece of gear is part of the exceptionally smart Head Plus system..and it is very smart too. It does what it is supposed to do, and it seems to do it well. Cons: 1) The motor housing is large and takes up valuable space near the focus gear. I have two lenses that won't work because the focus is too close to the lens hood... the hear can't make contact with the lens unless I remove the hood. 2) Why Edelkrone... oh WHY don't you include a power switch? As soon as you plug the wire into the Head Plus, the focus module starts trying to calibrate the lens, even if no lens is in contact. 3) I think this unit is shockingly overpriced for what it does. and I would love to have it work separately from the Head Plus... but alas, this is not usable in any way except when plugged in to other Edelkrone gear. All told though... this is needed for the Head Plus and Slider... so I will put up with the shortcomings.

This requires a Head & Slide Module along with the Slider. If you are using the Head and Slide Module along with the SliderOne, it will work.

The included Edelkrone focus ring adapters bump ...

The included Edelkrone focus ring adapters bump into the module during calibration. If I were to put something like a Tilta Follow Gear Ring adapter around a Canon EF lens, what would happen during the Edelkrone's app calibration? Would the lens spin forever because there are no hard stops? Or would it find it.
Asked by: James
The Edelkrone Focus Module needs hard stops in the focus (or zoom) ring to establish the min and max limits of rotation. That said, the connector for the gear ring adapter can provide a hard stop for rotation, but the position for a particular focus point (or zoom level) will vary. You can still use it to change the focus/zoom, but you can't use presets reliably.
