ASUS Republic of Gamers Strix GL703VD

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-Series Graphics Cards
NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 10-series graphics cards can deliver up to a 40% increase in performance over the previous generation. Not only are they powerful, they can deliver similar performance to their desktop counterparts with a slight performance difference. This changes mobile gaming, allowing you to max out your game's visuals settings so you can enjoy it at its best.
DDR4 memory runs at higher speeds to deliver faster performance compared to its predecessor DDR3. With it, your system will achieve better performance overall.
RGB Aura Keyboard
The Strix GL703VD is equipped with customizable RGB lighting so you can adjust it as you see fit.
ROG Gaming Center
ROG Gaming Center gives you access to multiple features such as system information, macros, audio settings, and more.

Windows 10

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the Internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information-gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    ASUS GL703VD-DB75 reviews

17.3" Republic of Gamers Strix GL703VD Notebook is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! Boots fast with the SSD (under 17 seconds). Very easy to use even with of all of the Photo Programs that I use for editing and restoring photos. Chose it because of the 2.8 GHz and the 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Display and clarity is excellent. Have not used it for gaming yet. Have yet to see how long the battery last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful and very fast laptop! I play mine craft on this thing and it works way better than it did with my previous PC it is smooth and fast and BARELY gets hot at all. This laptop is very fast with games and loads up in like no time. The back keyboard lighting gives it a very modern feel and you can also customize it. I do not regret buying this beauty. Fingerprints easily stick on this laptop though and the fans can be a little too loud but its not for long, it lasts like 10 seconds and turns back off but keep itself cool very well. The speakers are not that amazing but its okay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for what I paid I had three laptops as my choice and I git this, its Great. Everything in it works great, boots fast, acts quickly and till now everything is smooth. Haven't tried it for gaming yet. Slim and light, didn't expect it like this so I'm amazed considering it a gaming laptop. The display is nice and bright (The reason I chose this) which helps alot in photo editing. The battery lasts long enough to forget if I'm plugged in or working on battery (Still not for gaming, just normal day work of editing photos and managing documents).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop for video editing I love it. Its screen is great. Working super fast with the Adobe CC, even handles 4K very well. I've added 16GB of memory to a total of 32GB. The keyboard is nice and comfortable. I'd like to have a PgUp PgDn for video editing, but I've solved it using -/+ instead. For some strange reason, one in a while the keyboard stops responding. It only happened a couple of times, and going into sleep mode and waking up solves it. (maybe I'm pressing a hotkey that causes it..?) The speakers are great and loud. Everything works really well and I'm happy I've selected this model.

Regarding gaming, I tried to play Max payne 3 and Borderlands, Tomb Raider 2013 and all worked smooth and perfectly. Don't remember the settings if were high or Mid, but pretty sure they were high enough to enjoy gamin. Fan gets loudy a bit but if you put on headphones you'll be fine. Didn't face heat issues, with or without cooling pad, I keep on monitoring the laptops performance using asus ROG gaming center which helps in all optimizations. All over all, this is a pretty excellent laptop for the price you'll pay. ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from superior laptop I haven't had any problem with the keyboard heating up, I've spent several hours gaming, it warms up of course but never has it overheated. I still bought a cooling pad just to be on the safe side but I conducted experiments to see if I really needed one, results show that the internal fans do their job. Battery life isn't the best but considering how much power the laptop puts out, it exceptional. My overall opinion worth the money, and a beautiful piece of machinery

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Machine I use this to edit photos, video and play some games on. The machine is fast to start and has some places to tweak performance. Two drives come in very handy and I find the machine to be very solid. One user had stated the touch pad is a bit finicky, I agree, keep it clean and I find no problems but even a little smudge or an evening with potato chips and performance declines on the touch pad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The worst computer purchased We purchased 4 ASUS notebooks from B&H. Upon initial delivery, one was not able to start up. After exchange for a new notebook, three of the remaining notebooks all broke down - unable to start. The percentage of broken down is unheard of!!!!!! This created very bad situation for our work production. Never to use this brand!!! ever again!!!!
