JOBY 3K Reviews

Amazing for the price

This thing is awesome! I use it on my desk to film YouTube videos with my BMPCC6K and other interview/portrait like videos. My one issue with it is it's pretty flexible so reproducing the same exact shot on it can be hard given how bendy it is. It's super strong though and holds up my BMPCC6K with lens and smallrig cage on it. Definitely worth the price!

Will shake your camera

The pros are obviously the flexibility of height, and being able to mount it virtually anywhere. The major con for me was that the stand is susceptible to shaking if there is movement near the tripod. Just moving in my chair in my studio caused shaking. I thought this was an important point to make and might help a future purchaser.

Dollar for dollar, my GorillaPods have been the most useful photography accessory. Sturdy, flexible (literally and figuratively), and light - I've used my GorillaPods to hold camera bodies, flashes, action cameras, and more. Once you put it in your bag, you'll wonder why you didn't make the purchase sooner.

I own a private detective agency in Illinois and I issue this to each investigator who's assigned surveillance. It's compact, versatile, and sturdy. You can't go wrong with this tripod. It attaches to headrests, back of seats, dashboards easily and securely holds the video camera.

I like this, but I'm open to trying others

In the 2 weeks I have had this tripod, I have used it without issue. It lives in my backback for quick use with my Roland R-05 portable audio recorder. The ball head with tilt is very secure. Maybe too secure. Sometimes I feel like I will damage the attached device (the R-05 recorder) with the amount of force required to adjust the angle or tilt. A method of variable, adjustable tightness would be a nice feature, but it isn't the worst as-is, just makes me a little nervous about hurting something. In making angle adjustments to the ball head, the threaded connection to my device occasionally tightens-to-sticking, requiring pliers to free-up/loosen the threaded connection to my device. Just means the tripod and device go back in my backpack as a single unit instead of disassembled. So, if anything, it is over-secure, which I think I prefer to looser alternative. I do not have a lot of experience with tripods, so maybe this is as good as it gets or maybe there's room for improvement. If, in the future, I need a new or replacement tripod, I will like buy a different brand, but I have been fairly happy with this product in the 1-2 weeks I've been able to use it 6-12 times.
