question

Why is this adapter ridiculously expensive compare to its competitors? What I see is that it is an empty tube; no AF or any other electronic support.
Asked by: Oz John
The Mamiya 645 mount is the same one also used by Schneider Kreuznach for their Phase One lenses. These lenses are big and heavy. They need to be held in place snugly. If you have a cheap and wobbly adapter, that can give you badly focused images. Poor quality mounts can also ruin both the camera and the lens mounts. Lastly, these are not super high volume products. The universe of buyers for these adapters is small, so a big development cost has to be amortized over a small volume of sales. That is why these things cost more. You get what you pay for, IMO.
