    NVIDIA SHIELD TV reviews

SHIELD TV Streaming Media Player with Remote is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Expected more for the money, but does ok. The Shield is fine and is faster than the two other octi core 912 Android boxes I have by far. Video is Nvidia quality. The remote gets my two star markdown. The slide touch volume control is absurd and it is in the way and activates just holding the remote doing other functions. The voice recognition system sometimes does not recognize the questions. The flat button batteries they say have long life but are a waste of money to replace. It is a keeper though and I would recommend it even though the cost is high. Plenty of apps and features. The remote is thin and cute but not to practical.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No Web browser, can't customize Home page I use this device to watch YouTube TV and browse the Internet. I also use Netflix and Amazon Video. It's great for watching videos, but it doesn't allow me to browse the Internet. I spent hours downloading all sorts of browsers and none of them work well. It annoys me that the top line on the Home page displays stuff that I would never watch and wouldn't want children to see. I called Nvidia about these issues and they said I can't change or remove that top line and they said they'd report the browser issues to their technical team. Overall, after seeing all the great reviews, I'm disappointed that this product doesn't do basic stuff like Web browsing or allowing me to customize my Home page.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice and not so Nice Nice streaming box, very fast. Not so nice: turn itself on when it wants to with no signal going to tv. Remote control will not turn device on. (Had to install inline on/off switch so device wouldn’t turn on when it wants to and also turn on device when I want it to. Google play store is not the store you get on Android boxes. Had to download Aptoid. No internet Browser from main screen. Regular wireless mouse will not work, even with a Bluetooth mouse the right (back) button doesn’t work ( need to use remote that came with the device to do that). Still learning things so hopefully I can figure things out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product is very fast and great at streaming! This is a great streamer and has many other functions. Those used to android phones will love this device. (Android TV, duh) Lots of configuration and many things can be done on this device. I wish they had more pictures about the product. See pros and cons below: Pros: - Small and fast - Lots of customization - Overpowered for a streamer - Remote is small and light - Turns on my TV through HDMI link Cons: - Pricey, but you do get what you pay for - Comes with cheaper remote that is not rechargeable and does not have a headphone jack like the more expensive Nvidia Shield Pro. I didn't know this until it arrived. - Does not come with stand as pictured (I knew this ahead of time but why put a product in the picture that is not included? - Disabling applications can cause others to crash for no reason and you get no information as to why it is crashing. Some of these apps seem unrelated. - Linking the remote to the TV volume during the linking it worked and then didn't work again after that. I hope they put out an update to allow you to chose what you want to change with the volume button on the remote - Remote battery change requires similar tool to a sim tool and is supposed to last about a year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great streaming device Works well for all most every streaming service. On Amazon it lags as it loads the videos, not very long but a few seconds as opposed to the fire tv it is instant. The remote seems very responsible, but the volume location is a problem in that it keeps getting in the way and the batteries require purchase as opposed to being rechargeable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tv streaming applicance on the market. I was resistant to jumping on the shield due to its price, instead opting for roku and amazon devices. I had gotten used to their limitations and constant problems to the point that it had become normal. On BF, the shield dropped and it was time to give it a try. Omg, why did I wait? The shield is literally better than anything from roku/amazon by a country mile. Compared to the roku for instance, the shield doesn't suffer from hdmi handhsake issues, doesnt randomly reboot, slow interface, limited configurations, and you're not forced to use horrible DLNA for network file access. Since the shield is an android based device, the whole world of google and apps in general are open to you. For ex. I use ES File Manager to access my home server's media which is 100x better than accessing it thru windows DLNA. Even the wifey is impressed, and I've not heard a complaint since switching.
