The Google Pixelbook 12.3" Multi-Touch 2-in-1 Chromebook is the first Chromebook with Google Assistant built-in to help answer your questions, get things done, manage your schedule, and more. It's accessible via its dedicated hotkey or by voice activation using the phrase, "Ok Google". Specs-wise, it's also plenty capable, featuring a 7th generation 1.2 GHz Intel Core i5-7Y57 dual-core processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. Should you need more storage space, you'll be able to connect external storage solutions using its two USB Type-C ports.

Depending on your needs, the Pixelbook is highly adaptable thanks to its 2-in-1 design, which lets you use it in laptop, tablet, tent, and entertainment viewing modes. Its 12.3" display, driven by integrated Intel HD graphics, has a 2400 x 1600 resolution display and a 400 nit brightness rating for crisp and clear viewing, even in brightly lit environments. Furthermore, it supports touch inputs using your fingers or the optional Pixelbok Pen, so you can easily write, draw, and navigate intuitively. Other integrated features include 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, a backlit keyboard, a 1MP webcam, microphones, speakers, and a mic/headphone combo jack. The operating system installed is Chrome OS.

Chrome OS
Using Linux as a base, Google designed Chrome OS to work exclusively with web applications. The user interface takes a minimalist approach, which greatly resembles the Google Chrome web browser. Chrome OS was built for people who spend a majority, if not all, of their time on the computer connected to the Internet. The only application that comes installed on Chrome OS is a special Google Chrome web browser with an integrated media player and file manager. All other applications are accessed by adding apps from the Google Chrome Web Store. Since Chrome OS relies entirely on Google's web apps and access to Google's services, it is highly recommended that you connect to the Internet to optimize your Chrome OS experience.
Google Assistant Built-In
With a dedicated hotkey and voice activation, Google Assistant is built into this Chromebook to help answer your questions, get things done, manage your day, and more.
2-in-1 Design
Featuring a 2-in-1 design, the Pixelbook can be used in laptop, tablet, tent, and entertainment viewing modes to fit your needs.
All-Day Battery
The battery in the Pixelbook is rated to last up to 10 hours of use on a single charge. Please note that battery life will vary depending on use.
Apps for Work and Play
Loaded with your favorite Google apps such as Drive, Docs, Sheets, and more, the Pixelbook has got you covered for both work and play.

    Google Pixelbook reviews

    Pixelbook 12.3" Multi-Touch 2-in-1 Chromebook (Silver) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Chromebook Available If you're looking at this Pixelbook, then you're likely to know what is a chromebook and its limitations and capabilities. Don't buy something to find out that it doesn't do what it wasn't designed to do. If you're new to chrome OS or Chromium, then it's better that you start out with ones around $200 to $300. This review is toward those that are already familiar with chromebooks. If you prefer to do most of your work on a cloud based device, then this is the best available at the moment. It's pricey but you're getting one of the slimmest, lightest and really well built device, not to mention really nice looking and interesting design. It's fast and the screen quality is amazing. One thing to note about this chromebook is that Google is planning to support this device for another 6 years or so. A lot of the chromebooks that are out right now only have 4 or even 3 years left of support from Google. Also wanted to mention B&H Photo has amazing customer service!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect chromebook I had been waiting on a purchasing a chromebook for sometime, and this one finally made me jump. I'm not sorry. Long battery life, quick, quiet, simple. Build quality is excellent. I can even use this for photo editing now, although maybe still not appropriate for people who edit large quantities. This thing is so versatile that it has replaced three laptops and a tablet around our house. We all love this little thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really enjoying it For vast majority of daily work (email, calendar, document authoring, collaborating, browsing, communicating, note taking, photos management and light editing, etc) the Pixelbook is an absolute productivity beast. It’s also a joy to use and I am finding that I get through stuff a lot more efficiently. Despite the fact that android apps integration is still glitchy and feels unfinished, it’s great that I can seamlessly transition into my favourite apps and switch to a different mode of usage (e.g. go from keyboard intensive tasks to touch or reading heavy tablet mode) all within the same environment and without losing context. I bought the Moshi Symbus USB-C dock as well and, aside from a minor ChromeOS bug that’s preventing the Pixelbook from automatically going to sleep while audio output is directed via HDMI out on the dock) the two work great together. I think the screen size and aspect ratio hits the sweet spot in terms of portability vs productivity. It’s frustrating that there aren’t more devices on the market with 3:2 aspect ratio. Build quality is great. Can’t talk about long term durability yet. The addition of Google Assistant key is not a gimmick. I am constantly finding new ways of using it and not only improving my productivity but also expanding ways in which I interact with the machine. For example, instead of opening an app simply hit the Assistant key and type ‘create a reminder for tomorrow at 8:30am to do x’. If you are into heavy video editing this platform is not for you (yet). I would love to try the pen but at $99 I skipped it for now. Yes, the Pixelbook amplifies Google ecosystem lock-in, but unless you live fully within Apple or Microsoft ecosystems, or are willing to go renegade and invest a lot more work jumping through hoops on something totally different, you’d be hard pressed to find another solution that comes even close to this level of productivity, convenience and security. In a nutshell, for those willing to think slightly outside the square, this is a beautiful and highly functional machine that will only get better as the software continues to mature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from none of the sluggishness and aggravation of Windoze My Windows machinetakes 4 minutes just to boot andspends hours updating every time I turn it on. Chromeupdates and reboots in 11 seconds, and wakes from sleep in 2 seconds. It does 99% of what I need, and backs itself up continuously. Photos look great on this screen. The trackpad is the best I've ever used. There was a small learning curve, but it's a thousand times less aggravation than Windows or Mac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Little pricey, but a great tablet Picked up a couple when Google lowered the price for the holidays. Couldn't be happier. We are using them as replacements for Android Nexus 9 tablets. Chrome OS is much nicer than Android for what we do. Having the keyboard and mouse is great as it makes manipulating our google docs much easier. If it's just to enter data, onscreen keyboard is fine. We are quite happy with our purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty and fast, but glitchy Love the looks and feel of this system, but the hardware is flawed. Deeply flawed. Touch pad, Google Assistant and keyboard backlighting need to be manually configured to work and hard resets have become a daily requirement.
