Designed for small workstations and basic graphics or hardware acceleration applications, the HP Quadro P400 Graphics Card is a low-profile graphics card built on NVIDIA's Pascal architecture. This HP version of the P400 is designed to upgrade HP workstations for more powerful graphics processing. The GPU features 256 CUDA cores coupled to 2GB of VRAM with a 64-bit memory bus providing a maximum of 641 GFLOPS of single-precision computing power. Using supported APIs and CUDA, that computing performance can translate into high-resolution graphics rendering and improved computing speed with hardware acceleration.

The output panel on this card features three Mini DisplayPort terminals. Up to four monitors can be simultaneously supported by a single card, with the addition of an MST hub splitter, to create high-resolution video walls with your workstation or for more desktop real-estate to increase productivity. DisplayPort 1.4 support allows this card to drive UHD 5K displays as well. Included with the card are three Mini DisplayPort to full-size DisplayPort adapters. Other separately available adapters can be used with this card to drive other kinds of displays and projectors.

For cooling, HP implemented an active fansink cooler. This cooler uses a radial fan to force air through the card's heatsink, dissipating heat from the GPU and other internal components. This cooling configuration is best suited for cases with unrestricted airflow.

Just what I needed

A few years ago I built an Unraid server for Plex with a Ryzen 7 2700 and 1050ti. Pandemic happened and had to take the 1050ti out to build another PC for a child's home schooling. Over the past like 9 months I needed in the BIOS, run a VM, and want my Hardware Transcoding back. This did/does everything I needed it to do perfectly.

Good video card with caveat

I needed a decent video card that would do multi monitors setup and provide some acceleration over the integrated video. I have not tested it nor intend to run an games on it, so no comment there. I used the generic nVidia drivers for the card, they work fine. At teh time of order, this also happens to be the least expensive p400 sold here. While the card delivered all I was expecting from it, there is an issue with labeling the card on this web-site. While the web site declares that the card is meant for 'HP workstation upgrades', it is not clear until you open the box that if you use it on other brand PC your warranty would be completely void (tear sticker on the card envelope). I know that video cards do not fail that much, but in future I would stick to the PNY 'generic' Quadro p400 card, even if it costs a little more. There were no compatibility issues of any sorts, using it in a Lenovo workstation .

Good for speeding up photo editing.

This is a half-height, half-length card that fits a compact desktop. I chose it because it adds a relatively modest 20 W to the PC's power consumption. It noticeably speeds up some photo editor image loading, so it is an improvement over the integrated graphics in the PC. But, you may have to upgrade the graphics drivers, and the process for finding and selecting those drivers is poorly documented. This was sold as an HP part, but the HP web site the instructions sent me to was essentially useless, and Nvidia's only a little better.

I bought this little gem to take the integrated graphics load off of the CPU. My graphics load wasn't that high, but it still significantly affected the performance of my low-mid range computer. It worked like a charm.
