Lumu LUMU POWER overview

  • 1Description

Take your photos and videos to the next level with the Lumu Power Light, Flash, and Color Meter for iOS Devices. This device attaches to iOS devices running iOS 8.0 and up through the Lightning port. It has two sides: The dome side measures ambient and flash exposure up to 750,000 times per second with a range of -4 to 20 EV, and the flat side measures illuminance, color temperature, and chromaticity using a True Color sensor based on the CIE 1931/DIN 5033 color standard. Illuminance can be measured in a range of 0.15-250,000 lux and color temperature from 1500-20,000K. The Chromaticity Mode displays coordinates in the CIE 1931 color space.

It uses a free iOS app to display color and light information on your screen so you can adjust your shots accordingly. The Lumu Power needs no batteries; it runs off your iOS device's power. It's made of stainless steel and Lexan polycarbonate for durability.

    Lumu LUMU POWER reviews

Power Light, Flash, and Color Meter for iOS Devices is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good Light Meter, Unreliable Color Spectrometer Bought this with fingers firmly crossed that the Color Spectrometer function would negate the need to white balance with a white card on set. I wanted to be able to take a measurement and plug those numbers into the camera manually. Unfortunately, I'm not getting reliable readings. When you compare the in-camera white balance to manually plugging in the reading from the Lumu, on a calibrated monitor, the Lumu is often much greener. And this is reflected in the numbers. Where the camera is accounting for green bias by a factor of 3, the Lumu sees no bias. Tested under daylight balanced and tungsten balanced sources. If you already have a light meter, keep it, and don't waste your money on the color spectrometer function this offers. You can't count on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spectacular! Wow! A game changer for me. There are plenty of in-depth reviews to read - check links below, but I find the Lumu accurate enough to be invaluable on location. As a videographer the color meter is a key feature for me, but I could never justify the $1500+ price tag of the pro meters, so I have worked without one or rented until now. I find color temperatures to be accurate to within 60 k at 2800 k and around 200 k at 6000k. after a do a thorough test I will know exactly what I am dealing with. The light meter is very accurate. This Lumu performs well above what I was expecting and It competes with the GH5 for best value for $ this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lumu ios Light Meter At 1st glance, seems very accurate, easy to use, many functions including Color measuring(usually a very expensive meter function). very good price! Check back in a few months. Being very careful about transport. Have it wrapped in a cotton cloth inside an old eyeglass case to keep it secure from breaking & disc from getting dirty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have! Really love this little guy and its iOS App. Very easy to use and gives good reliable results at a fraction of the cost. Feels well made and comes with a protective pouch. The data delivered is easy to read and understand and makes light source matching a breeze!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product It replaced my color meter and incident/spot meter. So portable but also very possible to lose quickly. The only thing missing is spot meter but you can use the iPhone for that. Highly recommendable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy Bought the Lumu to set the color temp on my led light panels for video work. Very easy to use, simple and free app works great with my IPhone 8. I couldn't justify spending the $1500-$2000 on a pro level cinematic light/color meter. For $250 this seems to work perfectly for me. Also has a spot meter and ambient light meter so this is really all I need to carry now. Let's just hope Apple doesn't screw it up by eliminating the charge port on the iPhone anytime soon!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great tool. super portable/ compact The incident meter is pretty accurate, tested against a Sekonic and a Spectra. Not sure about the color meter.
