Key Features
- 150mm Ritchey-Chrétien Catadioptric OTA
- 1370mm Focal Length, f/9 Focal Ratio
- Low Thermal-Expansion Quartz Mirrors
- Dielectric Mirror Coatings
Utilizing the same hyperbolic primary and secondary mirror design used in the Hubble Space Telescope, the Keck telescopes, and the ESO Very Large Telescope, the iOptron Photron 150mm f/9 Ritchey-Chrétien Catadioptric Telescope (RCT) is ideally suited for both stargazing and astrophotography. Its relatively compact size allows it to be used on smaller mounts while delivering views that are free from off-axis comas and spherical and chromatic aberrations. The low thermal-expansion quartz primary and secondary mirrors are treated with highly reflective dielectric coatings that, when combined with internal knife-edge baffles, limit distortion as the mirrors heat while limiting stray internal light and maximizing light transmission. All this translates to bright and sharp high-contrast images with accurate color fidelity across the entire distortion-free field of view.

What is the maximum effective magnification? I am asking since at the iOptron website its wriiten 180, however other 6" telescopes usually have around 300 max effective magnification.
Thanks
The stated lower magnification could be because of the stated shorter focal length of the OTA.

1. What is effective magnification?
2. I have a Celestron SLT5. Can I use its tripod & mount? (I am not going to attach a camera) - and if so, do I need any adapter?
Thanks.
1370mm Focal Length, f/9 Approximate magnification 27.5X Magnification also depends on the millimeter of the eyepiece being used.

Thanks for the detailed answers so far. I consider replacing my Celestron slt5 (similar to 127 sllt but Shmidt Casagrian) with this tube (150 RC f/9). Howwvar I am not sure if I'll have a significant improvement in visible result. Though I ma tempted for the doual speed focuser. Can you lease advice?
You will have about a 17 to 22% increase in brightness. The brighter the scope the more objects
can be seen and identified.

Can I take parts and reduce weight to 11 pounds when shooting, put a camera and then put it on the sky watcher az gti?
This would not be possible to do, as there really are no parts to remove.

I own the Celestron Nexstar 4SE and wondering if I can use my tripod with this OTA?
Probley not. Your tripod head would have to be able to accept Long Vixen-style dovetail plate.

What is the maximum effective magnification? on the iOptron website I see 180 but I would expect around 300, from a 6" telescope. Can you please clarify?
The magnification is approximately 27X without an eyepiece. That now changes when you add the magnification of the eyepiece into the equation.

What type of finder scope and diagonal are required to use this scope? As in, what are the specifications to purchase the right items to fit on the scope?
On the diagonal. You have to decide on 45 degrees or 90 degrees. also a regular diagonal or an erecting prism diagonal. When you look through a telescope the view is always inverted with out the use of some kind of erecting device.
B&H most popular finder scope is the Celestron StarPointer Finderscope
