Sennheiser 506974 overview

  • 1Description

The Sennheiser HANDMIC DIGITAL is a dynamic, handheld microphone which sports analog/digital conversion from Apogee—a company well-regarded for its AD/DA conversion. Sporting a dynamic capsule and operating in a cardioid polar pattern, the microphone is suitable for speech and instrumental recording, while its mobile features (it’s compatible with your iOS devices, after all), render it useful for recording interviews on location, whether indoors or outdoors.

Concrete design attributes render this task achievable, such as an internal shockmount that reduces handling noise—making the mic suitable for handheld interviews—as well as a polar pattern that ensures off-axis rejection; in other words, the capsule will prominently record audio fed directly into it, and little from the sides. The microphone is also immune against cellphone radiation, which can often introduce unpleasant sonic artifacts into the recording. With a frequency response of 40 Hz to 16 kHz, you’ll be sure to pick up the nuances of the human voice and various instrumental sound sources.

With onboard digital conversion, you’ll obviate the need for a preamplifier, recorder, or interface, and will be free to record straight to your iOS device or computer. Apogee PureDigital A/D conversion is provided for this task, operating at 16-/24-bit resolutions and sample rates of 44.1 to 96 kHz to ensure quality recordings. The microphone draws power straight from your computer or iOS device, so batteries or phantom power aren’t required. With your purchase of the HANDMIC DIGITAL, you’ll get two different cables (one micro-USB to USB, one micro-USB to lightning), a microphone clamp, a table stand, and a convenient carry pouch.

Digital Compatibility and Apogee Technology
Generating high-quality audio files straight to your mobile device is possible with the HANDMIC DIGITAL, thanks to converters supplied by Apogee that bolster quality audio capture on the digital side.
Suitable for Mobile Journalism
As it's a handheld mic, the HANDMIC DIGITAL allows you to get close to the audio source. Its immunity against wind and cardioid polar pattern allow you to focus on what's coming into the microphone, generating quality audio or audio/video recordings that can be easily shared or uploaded for editing and publication.
Suitable for Podcasting and Voice Recording
With its robust design for both indoor and outdoor uses, the HANDMIC DIGITAL is suitable for podcasters working in the field or in their own studios. Fitted with a shock-mounted capsule, the mic provides suppression of handling noise. Also-and this is no small matter-the mic is highly immune against radiation from cellphones.
Suitable for Instrument Recording
Get your creative song ideas recorded right there, right now, without hassling with technology. Take your HANDMIC DIGITAL, take your iOS, plug it in, and play. In the past, you'd often sacrifice sound quality for digital ease of use; with the combination of the HANDMIC DIGITAL and basic mic technique, you can achieve broadcast quality, editable audio.

    Sennheiser 506974 reviews

HANDMIC DIGITAL Microphone with Apogee PureDigital Conversion is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved Sennheiser From a very long time I heardSennheiser makes great audio devices for creators. But I did not have any setup for using them. Like I cannot use an XLR card to be able to use their mics. Now this came out and I ordered it as soon as I could. Using it with my PC. Now the mic is crazy. It can control picks by itself, which was a missing feature in my last Audio Technica mic. Voice is clear and noise do not come in. I live in a noisy place (beside airport), but this mic helps me to filter out everything else. If you want to check the recording quality, you may watch this small video which has been recorded using this mic in my studio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty amazing microphone Listen...if you are in the market for an interview mic that you want to attache directly to an IOS device...there is no better option. The only issue is that you can't monitor while you record since Apple is killing the headphone jack. Super lame, but an Apple problem. The sound out of this mic is crazy good.
