Senal MXGN-18C Overview

With a slim, unobtrusive profile, the Senal MXGN-18C is a 18" gooseneck condenser microphone with an integrated base designed to provide clear and intelligible speech reproduction for lectures, video conferences, meetings, and more, without obscuring or visually distracting from the speaker. The back-electret condenser capsule features a cardioid polar pattern that clearly captures the voice in front of the mic, while reducing unwanted off-axis ambient sound often present in noisy and acoustically untreated rooms. It supports interchangeable omnidirectional and supercardioid capsules (available separately), which install and remove without tools in seconds.

The MXGN-18C's shaft features upper and lower gooseneck sections that enable you to precisely position the capsule in front of the speaker for optimal sound. A low-cut filter attenuates rumble by 20 dB at 100 Hz, allowing crisp voice quality devoid of problematic bass tones. Effortlessly activate or mute the mic signal via the programmable silent touch pad on the integrated base. Talk/mute status is clearly indicated by the LED ring below the mic capsule.

The MXGN-18C is operated via 12 to 48 VDC phantom power, and utilizes a balanced XLR output to ensure noise-free signal transmission over long cable runs. The microphone's rugged metal construction ensures long-lasting performance and dependability, even under demanding conditions. A slip-on foam windscreen is included to minimize pops, plosives, and breath noise.

Cardioid Mic Capsule
The back-electret condenser capsule offers high sensitivity compared to traditional dynamic designs, and requires less gain for a strong output level. Its cardioid polar pattern clearly captures the voice in front of the mic, while reducing unwanted off-axis sound and noise. Operated via 12 to 48 VDC phantom power, the MXGN-18C is compatible with a variety of mixers, mic preamps, PA systems, and audio interfaces.
Interchangeable Mic Capsules
Once positioned, leave the MXGN-18C in place and easily swap its cardioid capsule for the separately available omnidirectional or supercardioid capsules. No tools are necessary; they screw off/on in a matter of seconds.
Accurate Sound Reproduction
Tailored for accurate and intelligible voice reproduction, the MXGN-18C features a frequency response of 50 Hz to 18 kHz. A selectable low-cut filter attenuates 20 dB at 100 Hz to impede bass build-up and low-frequency rumble from HVAC systems.
Silent Touch Pad
Quickly and silently mute/open the mic signal by gently tapping the touch pad. Being programmable, it can operate in one of three modes to accommodate different preferences such as tap-to-talk, tap-to-mute, and more.
LED Ring Indicator
Just below the mic capsule, an LED ring indicator displays the talk/mute status of the MXGN-18C. Get a clear assessment of whether microphones are active or muted at a glance.
RF/EM Interference Rejection
Conference spaces and meeting rooms are common sources of Wi-Fi and cellular activity, noise from lights, and unintended radio-frequency paths. The MXGN-18C utilizes a balanced XLR output to inhibit such RF and EM interference over short and long cable runs.
Slip-On Windscreen
Slip on the supplied foam windscreen to reduce the inevitable vocal plosives from "P" and "B" sounds. Additionally, the windscreen guards the mic capsule against mouth-born moisture, which can corrode microphone components and degrade signal quality over time.
Dual Gooseneck Sections
Upper and lower gooseneck sections on the microphone shaft enable you to position the mic precisely in front of the subject.
Sturdy Construction
All-metal construction enables long-lasting performance and dependability; it won't warp or crack under pressure or temperature-related stress.
Integrated Nonslip Padding
Thanks to the MXGN-18C's nonslip padding, the microphone can remain stationary and stable on a table or podium.
Unobtrusive Appearance
The slim profile of the MXGN-18C doesn't obscure or distract from the speaker, and its matte black finish won't cause distracting reflections or glare.

Senal MXGN-18C Reviews

Really good quality mics

I now own 44 of these. They look nice, and work really well with no issues. The audio quality is very good. I'd love it if they had an additional LED light on the base to indicate to users whether or not the mic is on, sometimes they position the mic in a way that makes it hard for them to see the LED ring on the tip. Silly, I know, but it happens frequently. I haven't been able to find the right replacements for the wind screen, though. I did find some that'll work, but they don't have the plastic O-ring around the opening that provides a tighter fit.

Great except mute isn’t 100%

Waited to write a review until I’ve used it for a few months Pros Sound quality Large, silent mute touchpad (but see below) Heavy, compact base Solid build quality Cons Just discovered during a meeting that it leaks a tiny bit of sound while muted. A person on the call said they could just barely hear me, but not enough to make out what I was saying. I verified using sound recorder while clapping - yup, sound leaks. Going back to using the mute button on the Roland deck which I verified does not leak. Depending on how it is positioned, the mic LED is hidden by the foam pop filter. I have to move to look around it to see if I’m muted (or not).

Asked by: John
The Senal MXGN-18C Gooseneck Condenser Microphone, despite having an "integrated base", does not come with a permanently attached or integrated cable. Instead, it features an integrated XLR 3-pin male connector on the base.
