Sennheiser HD1 overview

  • 1Description

The HD1 Free In-Ear Bluetooth Headphones from Sennheiser are designed for a mobile lifestyle, with Bluetooth 4.2 and Qualcomm aptX for hi-fi sound. They can be used with smartphones to take and make phone calls or control music with up to 2 devices at once, and also support 3-way calling.

Featuring a neckband wearing style, the headphone's ear pieces are magnetic so you can join them together and wear them comfortably around your neck when they are not in use. You can also carry them in the included leather carry case.

The HD1 Free headphones have a frequency response of 15 Hz to 22 kHz and feature custom machined, stainless steel in-ear sound tunnels. The lithium-ion battery provides about six hours of listening time, and an included USB cable lets you recharge the headphones. Also included is four sets of eartips in four different sizes (XS, S, M, L), ensuring a snug and secure fit.

A Combination of Sound and Style
From the machined stainless steel in-ear sound tunnels to the leather carrying case, the Sennheiser HD1 Free are designed for an enhanced listening experience.
Smooth Passage for Natural Sound
The HD1 Free features custom machined stainless steel in-ear sound tunnels that channel the sound from its dynamic speaker system into the ear. The result combines a powerful bass response, detailed vocal projection, and a wide soundstage.
Wide Bluetooth Codec Support
The HD1 Free uses Bluetooth 4.2, with support for AAC and Qualcomm aptX codecs. Together, they ensure clear wireless transmission with true hi-fi sound from your supported devices. aptX Low Latency lets you enjoy your videos more, by keeping audio in sync with video.
Communication is All Around Your Neck
Communicate seamlessly with your mobile device with the three-button remote and in-line microphone between the earpieces. You can make phone calls and control music on the go with ease. You can connect with up to two devices at once, and 3-way calling support is also provided. Voice prompts notify you about the pairing or battery status.
Listen Longer
The HD1 Free is offered with eartips in four different sizes. They provide a snug and secure fit and block ambient noise. Furthermore, the battery lasts for six hours of listening and can be charged via the supplied USB cable.
Street-Smart Stylish
The magnetic ear pieces allow you to join left and right together to wear them comfortably around your neck when that are not in use. You can also carry them in the included leather case.

    Sennheiser HD1 reviews

HD1 Free In-Ear Bluetooth Headphones is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spectacular Wireless Headphones! I purchased these because I wanted to have good, quality wireless headphones that also used the best codec for iPhones, which currently is AAC. These headphones are light and comfortable, and I can wear them for hours without ear fatigue. You also barely notice any weight, though when I walk with them I still hear the footfalls impacting the sound. But that’s something I can never get rid of no matter which earbuds I try. The soundstage is great! Lows are punchy without being overdone. I listen to lots of classical and orchestral soundtracks, and I appreciate the fullness of the string basses, tubas, bass drums, etc. without having them take over. These are also the only headphones I’ve owned that can actually go all the way down to 20 hz and still have presence (I have test tracks for all kinds of frequencies). The highs are crisp and seem to shimmer, without ever sounding harsh. Cymbals sound natural and sparkly (if the bit rate is high enough). The mids also can have a great presence, especially when the horns take over (such as at the start of the 1st movement of Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony). But they don’t sound too muddy, as there’s a dip around 300 hz. My only small gripe is the same as others I’ve seen: the magnets that are supposed to hold the earbuds together when wearing them around your neck aren’t very strong, but that’s certainly not a deal-breaker for me. Overall, I love them! I’ve been listening to them quite a bit since I bought them and really enjoy hearing new nuances in music that I haven’t heard before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sennheiser HD-1 Free Hey, real simple. I love it. The cord is plenty long enough to fit comfortably around my big head without being tight around my neck and the sound quality is excellent, as you would expect from Sennheiser. The magnets on the back or the ear buds are not the greatest but I can live with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After all, they are Sennheiser headphones. These are very good for walking around the city. The music that comes out of these are excellent and the phones clarity is great I can't sing the praises enough. If you get them, you will not be disappointed. I was lucky to get them at 30 bucks cheaper but at $199 they are still worth it.
