I had a an older blue ray and it had trouble playing blue ray disks that i rent from the library. So I bought this on to have a newer player but it has the same problem. It hit or miss on what blue ray disks it will play. It plays regular DVD disks just fine. So I don't know if it is the player or the disks. A bit disapointed at the lack of output options.

Works perfectly with region 1&2 dvd's and region A blue ray discs. I don't have any disc from other regions to try it with. After seeing that others had issues with other multi-region players when they updated the firmware, I did not connect mine to my wi-fi network nor update the firmware to minimize the potential for issues. Compared to my 12 year old sharp blue ray player this unit it tiny being only about 1/3 the size.

Yes, the upscaling feature on this BDP-S6700 Blu-Ray player can be turned on or off.
Here's how:
In the screen settings menu, you can switch the OUTPUT VIDEO RESOLUTION setting from AUTO (upscaling on), to ORIGINAL RESOLUTION (upscaling off). Page 26 of the user manual here has more details and instructions: https://bhpho.to/3P08ZzM .

Does it convert PAL dvds and blu-rays on the fly to NTSC or do you need a multi system tv as well to see PAL content? Previous answers are contradictory.
You dont need a multi-system TV to playback multi region discs. The player will convert it.
