I originally picked these up to cut down on the amount of mic stands I needed to mic up live drums, and for that they work amazingly. Since I've had these in my kit, I can't stop running into other situations where I need these too: they're great for mic'ing guitar cabs and especially for putting up wireless fins where floor space is at a premium. They clamp really securely to cymbal stands, drum rims, or really any solid surface. The 7" "magic arm" is super flexible and makes getting mics into tough spots a breeze. Another plus: the ball joint can connect to multiple different mounting points on the clamp itself, so with a few of these you can Frankenstein together multi-mic rigs like stereo bars. I keep at least five of these in my kit at all times and often use them all
