Nice Clamp, Usable Ballhead

The crab clamp half of this is excellent -- it's exactly the same as similar Smallrig clamps I already own, except these Camvate clamps include two extra 1/4-20 threaded holes, in case you need them. It's solid and latches onto pipes, desk edges, etc., providing a mounting point for all sorts of things (mics, lights, small cameras, and so on). The ballhead half of this product isn't amazing, and differs a bit from the product photo. In the photo and description, it looks like it's *made* with the 5/8-27 thread for mounting a microphone, but instead it's just a normal 1/4-20 mini-ballhead with a 5/8-27 adapter screwed onto it. The tightening knob is also smoother and more cheap looking than in the photo here. But the lower half, which looks plastic in the photo, is actually metal, so that's a plus. It *works*, which is all I can ask (and I can always use it as a normal mini-ballhead if I remove the adapter) -- I just wish the photo and description had been more clear about this.

Looks like a solution to a mounting problem

These are inexpensive and will clamp onto the edge of a piece of 2 lumber (1 1/2 thick), or a 1 1/4 pipe (pipe OD tends to be about 3/8 larger than trade size). Suitable for mounting the effects mic that you want to hang somewhere and you have full range of motion with the ball head.
