Don't fall for the hype on these, or the rugged good looks. It's just a crappy Seagate drive stashed in an enclosure with a USB connection that can't keep a good connection.

A great backup/portable drive

I now have three of these gems, two 1TB and a 2TB models. One I used to backup my photo laptop, one I used for the Lightroom catalog, and the last I use to hold photos I shoot when I'm on the road. No issues, and I like the look of durability.

Reliable!

I have used a LaCie Rugged USB External Hard Drive as a backup device for over 10 years. This is a very reliable product. When I purchased a new computer with a Type C drive I did not hesitate to upgrade to a LaCie Type C drive knowing it would be just as reliable.

Works as advertised. Connects easily to the iMac and provides plenty of space for video editing. Looks portable too but I leave mine in place.

It's no SSD, but it sure is sturdy

Bought this for a client handoff. She loves it! It's not ideal for working on video, but it is great for a backup.

So far so good!

Simple plug and play hard drive that's speedy! I like the added rugged protector, which can be removed by the way. The bright orange color means it'll be difficult to lose sight of. Only time will tell the reliability of the drive, but in the meantime, it's been working great!

I use the LaCie 5TB Rugged for LR. I have both the LR catalog and the photos on the drive. It makes it easy to access my photos from any of my MAC computers with LR installed. MacBook when traveling and iMac at home. I also regularly backup the LR catalog and photos so a dedicated backup drive. I have not noticed any speed issues with the 5TB Rugged. Its a trusted workhorse in my book!
