How doe the LH-40 compare to the LH-30 for loads of 4-5 lbs, such as a FF camera and a 24-70/2.8?
Asked by: Michael
Either will work but the LH-40 has a much higher load capacity and would be more suitable for your setup.

What is important to consider when looking at ...

What is important to consider when looking at different size ball heads? For ex, why choose a 40mm over a 30mm or 50mm?
Asked by: Kelly
The weight of the unit is going to be different, but also, it's all about stability. I've used a smaller form factor ballhead that claims it can hold up to 25lbs or more. It barely could handle my 5d4 with 100-400. Always "broke loose" and one time the camera actually came off the QR mount when it failed (went from in position to pointing straight down, just as if you'd loosened the knob without holding the camera steady, and then it was such a slam it ripped the QR plate out of the holder. I'll never use that one again.) Now I use a much better machined ballhead and it's a larger model and I love it. Best investment I've had in my photography in a while.
