Is there any problem with having the lens in a 5% humidity environment?
Asked by: Dean
Ultra-low humidity can have adverse effects on rubber, plastic, leather, and other such materials, drying them out. The glass lenses are fine, but seals, gaskets, grips, and things like that could become brittle. The manual for their dry boxes suggests about 30-40% for lenses.

Will TSA allow this on an airplane - either as checked or carry on?
Asked by: Sidney
When using silica gel packets on a trip to Alaska to help with moisture, the TSA agents did an inspection. They allowed the silica gel after inspection. You should probably tell them in advance, if possible, there is silica gel present in the case as a de-moisturizer. The TSA agent was pleased they found the silica gel packets. The agent informed that it looks just like explosive material when screened.
