Distinguished by its speed, the Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical from Voigtlander is a short normal prime designed for M-mount rangefinder cameras. Its comfortable focal length pairs with an impressively fast f/1.2 maximum aperture to enable notable control over depth of field for producing shallow depth of field imagery, and this aperture also benefits working in difficult lighting. Complementing the fast design is an optical layout that uses two aspherical elements to suppress spherical aberrations and distortion for notable sharpness, clarity, and accurate rendering. The lens's manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 1.6' away, and it is also rangefinder coupled to 2.3' for working with optical focusing systems.

Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical Reviews
Cinematic vibes
Awesome lens for the money. Very cinematic look and feel. Off beat focal length.
Sweet Piece of Glass!
Great performance, especially for the money. Originally purchased for my CL but it now is my main M6 optic. It just plain works. I'm getting smooth bokeh but edgy sharpness. It also gets along well on my Fuji X bodies which can be hit or miss for me with many adapted lenses. Beautiful build quality that is tactilely gratifying, too.
Sweet Lens
I have had the Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 lens on my Leica M10 for about a week or so and it is great. I agree with all the other positive reviews. I use it mostly for street and landscape/seascape photography and it is the perfect focal length for those. There is one very minor thing that I don't care for, and that is the distance scale on the focusing ring, feet are in red which are hard to read on the black lens.. That should not be a deal breaker or discourage anyone from getting this lens.
Special Lens
Using this adapted to a Fuji XT3 and it has quickly become my favorite lens to use. Unlike the Fuji lenses, the manual focus is a joy to use. Very smooth operation with the MF ring. Image quality is great. F1.2 is fun to use and gets very sharp by F5.6. Wish they had a Nokton 23mm to match the quality of this one. Tried this lens on my A7RIII also. Works well, but there is just something about the rendering with the Fuji that is special.
Magical lens for Magical price
This lens is out of this world! You get Leica Noctilux 10k image quality for 90% less. Very scharp with 3D plop and nice bokeh. Color richness and nice tones even full open. Mechanical well build and with a great balance on a Leica M. A must have in every Leica M gear set.
Awesome !!!
Exquisite lens I also use it with extension tube mcex-11 Fuji Gorgeous & artistic photos
Sharp
Great color. Great sharpness from f/4.0 and up. Nice below f/4.0 for a bit softer images. This is a good lens. I love how it renders color subtleties. It works very well on my old M9. This is a good lens. Buy one.
A perfect daily carry lens
Well constructed, extremely sharp, versatile. Only negs are expensive hood, a focus ring that needs a bit of getting used to. I trust it's solid build and leave it on my Leica.
