Dell 7720 Overview

Designed with powerful performance and customization options, the 17.3" Precision 7720 Mobile Workstation from Dell is powered by a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7-6820HQ Quad-Core processor that allows you to run multiple applications simultaneously. The processor also features a boost speed of up to 3.6 GHz and the system's 8GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM, which may be upgraded to 64GB, allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs, as well as help to ensure efficient multitasking.

The 17.3" UltraSharp Wide View Anti-Glare IPS display features a Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, LED backlighting, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 72% color gamut coverage, and viewing angles of 120/90°. The dedicated AMD Radeon Pro WX 4130 graphics card has 2GB of GDDR5 RAM and delivers a sharp, clear picture. You'll also be able to output video to an external display using the built-in HDMI 1.4 and mini DisplayPort 1.4 outputs at resolutions up to 8K with HDR.

For storage of your files, this Precision 7720 is equipped with a 500GB 7200 rpm SATA 2.5" hard drive, and there are also two empty M.2 slots for additional internal PCIe NVMe storage. If you want to add external storage, optical drives, memory card readers, and more, the Precision 7720 offers one Thunderbolt 3 port and four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, all of which double as charging ports with PowerShare technology. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi are built-in for wired and wireless networking, and Bluetooth 4.2 technology will also allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals. A built-in SD 4.0 card reader supports SD/SDHC/SDXC UHS-II flash media up to 2TB and lets users download content from their digital camera. Other integrated features include a 720p webcam, dual integrated noise-canceling digital array microphones, and stereo speakers powered by Waves MaxxAudio Pro.

The 17.3" Precision 7720 Mobile Workstation includes a 240W AC adapter that operates using 100-240 VAC at 50-60 Hz and a 6-cell / 91Wh lithium-ion polymer battery with ExpressCharge that has a lifespan of around 300 discharge/charge cycles. While the installed operating system is Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), a Windows 10 Professional (64-bit) license is included at no additional cost. Protection is provided by a limited 3-year warranty.

General Features
Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously. Additionally, you can daisy chain up to six devices from a single Thunderbolt 3 port.
SD 4.0 Card Reader
The card reader supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards up to 2TB. The Ultra High Speed Phase II (UHS-II) bus design was added for the SD 4.0 spec, which consists of an additional design enhancement with connector interface modifications to increase performance. UHS-II specs define bus architecture for maximums of 156 MB/s to 312 MB/s using the four-lane (two differential lanes) UHS-II bus and its additional row of physical pins.
USB 3.0 Type-A
The Precision 7720 has four USB 3.0 Type-A ports that operate at speeds up to 5 Gb/s and can be used to connect USB-compatible peripherals to your system, such as external storage, optical drives, printers, memory card readers, and more.
USB PowerShare
The USB 3.0 Type-A ports are equipped with USB PowerShare technology. This allows you to charge external devices using the stored system battery power through the USB PowerShare port. You can select how much of the battery's charge can be used to charge external devices. If you set the USB PowerShare to 25%, the external device is allowed to charge until the laptop battery reaches 25% of its full capacity, so 75% of the Precision's charge is used up. If the system is running on battery power alone, PowerShare will only power devices while the system is in a 'low power state' (standby mode).
ExpressCharge
The battery charges over a shorter period of time using Dell's fast charging technology. This option is enabled by default, although consistent fast charging may reduce the overall battery life.
Strong Materials
The chassis is subjected to and passes MIL-STD 810G testing, ensuring durability and reliability for wherever your job takes you.
Enhanced Docking
Make using your peripherals and displays easy with the Dell E Dock, or use the Dell Thunderbolt Dock for faster data transfers and support for up to five Full HD displays or two 4K displays and five other peripheral devices. All docking options are sold separately.
Ready for VR
Get the best of work and play. Dell's VR-ready mobile workstation is optimized for gaming and content creation, in addition to all your mainstream professional ISV applications. It's so powerful it can handle complex VR workflows, so you can game or create in immersive virtual reality.
Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Certification
Precision Workstations are tested to help ensure the high-performance applications you rely on every day run smoothly. Dell ISV-certifications cover many popular independent software applications.
Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) + Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) License
This system is pre-installed with Windows 7 Professional software and also comes with a license and media for Windows 10 Pro software. You may use only one version of the Windows software at a time. Switching between versions will require you to uninstall one version and install the other version. You must back up all data (files, photos, etc.) before uninstalling and installing operating systems to avoid loss of your data.
