    Crucial MX500 reviews

    500GB MX500 2.5" Internal SSD is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Speeds up older machines! I've bought and installed a few of these drives in the past and I'm always amazed at how much of an improvement they are over the standard hard drive. Install was very easy. The most time consuming part was moving all my files over. My MacBook Pro (2012) was starting to bog down and take forever to open webpages/mail and just about everything so I decided to upgrade. I could not be happier! Programs open up in a snap and file transfers (from ssd to ssd) are lighting fast! Photo editing is much better as well. This drive gave new life to my laptop. Excellent buy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from keep away from these failed 3x on separate occasion, I do not recommend this unit to anyone. The first drive failed to work so I went to B&H right away to get another one. The Micron company sent the second replacement as a refurbished product that was bound to fail, but they escaped their obligations after third failure as the warranty is bound to an original purchase date within 2 years. In 2 years, I lost data on 3 separate hard drives thrice! keep off these products. Get Glyph.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crucial MX500 and Manjaro Linux KDE I replace an existing harddrive in my desktop with Crucial's 500G MX500 SSD. I created /, /home and swap partitions; installed a fresh copy of Manjaro Linux and copied everything from my old /home partition that I wanted. Rebooted and wow what a difference in boot time and disk access! I was a little concerned about buying Crucial instead of Samsung as I had done in the past for my notebook and Macbook Pro. I shouldn't have worried. Crucial is performing very well in my Linux system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like new Laptop Had a 4 year old HP ( i5) laptop that slowed down considerably with Windows 10. Especially Outlook mail. Ran the Crucial compatibility check and it recommended the 500GB drive. The laptop was only using 230 Gb of the installed HD. When installing the SSD I realized the current HD was 680 GB ( weird size) and I had to resize to match SSD for copy to work. Acronis, the recommended disk copy program would not resize for SSD. Upon calling Crucial they suggested Macrium (free) as an alternative. After removing all partitions from SSD I was able to copy old HD to SSD while resizing partitions. Upgrade proceeded smoothly after that. If I had realized the sizing issue before hand, probably would have purchased 1 TB SSD. Although saved $100 with 500GB. Laptop is much faster. I would estimate 95% of a 2018 laptop,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product and cust service sucks The drive was not recognized when plugged in. To initialize the drive, I was told to either buy a USB to SATA cable or try another laptop/desktop. The customer service rep was rude unhelpful and presumed he was talking to an IT shop with all cords/cables, secondary machine, etc. available. If a SATA drive does not work when plugged into a SATA cable I do not want it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Upgrade I installed this in a client's Macbook Pro. The client had reported that the machine was super slow and not working correctly. After installing this and loading the software there was a VERY noticeable difference. The Macbook ran like a charm. Would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from verdict isint in yet, I bought a 64gb some years ago and it went out within 6 months, never did work after, and there was no return policy in place. I'm taking a chance with this 500gb, it's fast and all but will it holds up is the question, it has 5 year warranty so I'm keeping track.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality It would be even better if there is option/suggestion for compatible cable to purchase together. I didn't know there was no cable so had to order it which delayed the installation a bit. Overall it is still a great choice to upgrade my old PC with fair price.
