Bricked itself after 5 hours

My Crucial MX500 1TB SSD stopped working after about only 5 hours of use (time to clone an existing drive into it filling about half its capacity, power off then attempt to boot from it). It seems to have bricked itself as plugging it in now results in I/O errors. Any reading attempts times out. Can't return it for a refund since technically my freshly copied data is (most likely) still intact on the flash chips inside. The sticker says it had firmware version M3CR046. RIP(pieces).

I replaced the hardfile in my main computer with one of these six months ago. I decided to buy a second one for a full copy of the existing one. Now if something goes wrong, I can swap the SSD and recover very easily.

Using three of these in my Plex server. All three are still at 100% lifetime remaining, unlike another brand that dropped to 99% after three months. They stay cool and SILENT! I wish Crucial made an 8TB SATA SSD.

does this has d ram?

does this has d ram?
Asked by: Peter
According to the Anandtech review from 2018, yes it has DRAM Cache, as well as SLC Cache. DRAM cache: 256MB, 512MB, 1024MB, or 2048MB depending on the size. (512MB on the 1TB). Aditionally it also offers an SLC cache. "As usual for Crucial, the SLC write cache is dynamically sized based on how full the drive is." Some manufacturers have been known to silently change SSD internals and pretend it's the same drive though, so the fact that a lot of manufacturers don't list important details like this in the official specs on their website can be a bit concerning.

Does this ssd works in a Macbook Air Mid 2012?

Does this ssd works in a Macbook Air Mid 2012?
Asked by: Ana Elisa
No, the Mid 2012 MacBook Air series DOES NOT use a conventional 2.5" "Laptop" type SSD. These use the "Stick" type of Internal SSD, but Apple went proprietary and used a "non-standard" edge key slot on the SSD. While this particular type of SSD can be replaced/upgraded with special tools, the correct SSD module is both expensive and hard to find. Also, the RAM in this model is soldered onto the motherboard and is not user upgradeable either. Sorry! I hope this helps you!
