The LanParte FANS Series Cage for the Panasonic GH5 provides a varied set of mounting options and features a convenient way of attaching/removing the camera. The cage includes a top handle, short 15mm rod, and 1/4"-20 accessory adapter. Between all the components, the cage offers 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded accessory mounting holes, a 1/4"-20 screw, a NATO rail, a cold shoe, ARRI-standard accessory mounts (which have safety pinholes), a 15mm rod port, and a sideways-positioned 15mm rod clamp. All these allow you to attach microphones, NATO rail accessories, monitors, lights, articulating arms, and other gear.

LanParte GH5K-01-C Overview

The LanParte FANS Series Cage for the Panasonic GH5 provides a varied set of mounting options and features a convenient way of attaching/removing the camera. The cage includes a top handle, short 15mm rod, and 1/4"-20 accessory adapter. Between all the components, the cage offers 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded accessory mounting holes, a 1/4"-20 screw, a NATO rail, a cold shoe, ARRI-standard accessory mounts (which have safety pinholes), a 15mm rod port, and a sideways-positioned 15mm rod clamp. All these allow you to attach microphones, NATO rail accessories, monitors, lights, articulating arms, and other gear.

Your camera attaches to the cage using a small, Arca-Swiss-standard quick-release plate. The plate first secures to the bottom of the camera and then inserts into a slot on the cage along with the camera. The plate is rubber-padded for non-slip attachment.

The cage is designed specifically for the GH5 and leaves open access to all ports and controls. The complete system is designed with LanParte's signature black and green color scheme.

I'll start by saying that I generally like LanParte stuff. I'm happy with other products of theirs that I use. But if I could do it all over, I would pick the SmallRig kit I've linked below. I'd do it for 3 reasons: 1) The LanParte doesn't easily accommodate the DMW-XLR1 attachment. It requires the purchase of an additional special cable that they sell for about $85. So add that to the total price. 2) You can't attach a right side handle. At least, I couldn't attach the SmallRig handle with the record trigger and there aren't a whole lot of other options. The mounting holes are offset on the right side of the FANS cage and are incompatible. I looked at the LanParte products and as far as I can tell, they only offer a left side handle. I focus with my left hand so it's not useful to me. 3) Price. The LanParte cage plus adapter cable for the DMW-XLR1 costs $361.33. The SmallRig is $169 and has space for the DMW-XLR1. It's possible I'm overlooking something in regard to the handle attachment but even so, the basic price difference makes it seem obvious now. LanParte makes good stuff but this one misses the mark for me. Does the height of the top handle of this unit allow sufficient clearance for the Panasonic DMW XLR-1 adapter?

Unfortunately no. There is no room with this item BH #LAGH5K01C and a GH-5 when paired with The Panasonic DMW XLR-1 adapter.
