WAGAN 3808 overview

  • 1Description

Use a vehicle or boat battery to power electronics, tools, and appliances that you would normally plug into a wall socket with the Pure Line 2000W Power Inverter by Wagan Tech. This DC-to-AC power inverter delivers pure sine wave AC power, the same kind of power you get from an AC wall socket. Pure sine wave AC means that your sensitive electronics, such as audio/video systems, computers, and communications equipment will operate cooler, quieter, and more efficiently than they would using modified sine wave power.

Featuring three three-prong grounded AC outlets and one USB power port, the inverter runs on a 12-volt battery (technically 11-15 VDC) and continuously delivers 2000W AC power at 110-120V, 60 Hz. The surge capability of 4000W accommodates devices and appliances that draw higher wattage upon start-up or at certain points in their operation. A neutral to ground bond is provided for safety and compliance with US electric standards. The power cable has direct terminal clips for attaching to battery terminals, providing a more secure and higher-capacity connection than alligator clips or a cigarette lighter socket plug. The inverter warns you when your car's battery has been drawn down to 10.5V and will automatically shut off when the battery's remaining power reaches 10V. It also offers overload, overheat, short-circuit, and reverse polarity protection.

    WAGAN 3808 reviews

Pure Line 2000W Power Inverter is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing inverter with room for small improvements I'm using the new Slimline 3808 2000-watt true sine wave inverter, in conjunction with my solar array, as a means of providing clean and renewable AC current for my RV. I choose this inverter from the plethora of different inverters because of the size, rating for the current load (as in 24 hours at full rating), cost, features, and size. It's not unusual for us to travel off-grid while camping and yet, we still like to have some of the comforts of home with us. Although the camper has a generator, the use of the inverter means we can have everything we need without the use of the generator. This keeps things quiet, saves on propane, and allows us to venture to different locations regardless of power source. So far, the inverter works really well. I've powered up a small shop vacuum and made a pot of coffee with it and will soon be using it for other tasks. It looks great and I love the three outlets with GFCI and the thoughtful design features. That said, there are two areas that need improvement. First, the mounting feet need to be rethought. You have to remove an Allen head screw before you can put a bolt through the mounting feet to anchor it to the wall. The feet are mounted too close to the inverter case and the Allen head bolt gets in the way and keeps the bolt from going into the hole on the mounting foot. Second, this inverter has a place that you can attach Romex type wire for running a series of electrical outlets. This is a great feature on this unit, however, when you remove the protective cover, the screw base is left unattached to the inverter case. This makes attaching the wires very challenging as the screw base is loose and there is nothing to push against when tightening the screws. Mounting the screw base to the inverter case independently of the protective cover would be helpful. Additional directions for this feature would also be appropriate.
