    802VLZ4 8-Channel Ultra-Compact Mixer is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small footprint, big features The Mackie 802VLZ4 8-channel mixer is a delight to use and it is very accurate. This mixer replaces a budget mixer I had been using for years that started to malfunction. OK, the malfunction was solved by some treatment (of the old mixer) with Deox-IT, but I don't think the Mackie will ever need that. And that's the point of buying a Mackie, even an affordable one. I had seen Mackies in production studios and performance spaces and they do have an excellent reputation. Besides having flawless audio quality, this mixer has some high end features. Be sure to download the Owner's Manual. Not only does it have 26 pages of very useful information, it also helps you start out right (not to mention a few priceless jokes to reward those who read manuals). One feature I liked right away are the channel inserts on the three mic inputs, commonly used for compressors/expanders. It is remarkable that the mic inputs can handle all kind of mics but also guitar inputs and line level inputs, a huge range of signal levels. Equalizers on every channel, very good ergonomics, and painless signal setting complete the stand-out features. A number of mixers have built-in A/D converters with USB output and tons of effects built in. Personally, I prefer clean signals in the mixer and a separate (I use FocusRite) A/D converters, which avoids the RF signals that leak from the processing chips in effects processors and A/D converters. For mixing audio for video, small bands, and small meeting rooms, this is a perfect mixer that will last a very long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A BEAUTIFUL & SILENT BRICK A lovely piece of gear. It feels like a brick. You could probably drive nails with it. AND it has several different paths out so if you need to use Mix Minus, it's an easy operation. ALSO...QUIET as a mouse. I love it when something does what it's supposed to. Money well spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Well Made and Very Useful Piece of Gear I purchased the Mackie 802 about a month ago. I needed to patch the audio from two different computers to two sets of monitors. I considered passive monitoring switches, but saw the 802 on sale at BH, saw the additional functionality it offered, and decided to go with it. The build quality of the unit is excellent. It is metal, solid, with a good heft, and all of the rotaries and buttons operate with a consistent and smooth feel. I haven't utilized all of the functions of the mixer, but for my intended purpose, it works very well. You can route multiple sets of monitors from the mains, alternate outs, and control room functions. The sound quality of the unit is similarly excellent, in that it doesn't seem to color the sound (at least not to my ears). I am using Focal monitors, and the outputs sound strong and clear. There is no discernible hiss or extraneous noise from the mixer. I am always wary of adding devices into a given signal chain, but this flexible unit has been an excellent addition. At its list price it is a great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Compact Mixer I use this mixer to add to my DJ set-up. It's a powerful little mixer and very inexpensive. Has all the inputs and outputs I need and I believe it outputs a better/clearer sound than if I just used my controller alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for small but complex setup. We had 2 devices that we needed to split to 4 different devices at all different levels. This mixer handled all that we needed and kept me in budget! Highly recommend.
