About the Author
Kenneth Kobre serves as the head of San Francisco State University's photojournalism program. Former students of his, including winners of the Pulitzer Prize, World Press Awards, and numerous other prestigious honors, work as full-time staff journalists and freelancers for publications and media outlets all around the globe. Ken, too, remains active in the freelance world, having completed assignments for Newsweek, Time, the New York Times, and corporate clients that include Hewlett-Packard, Levi Strauss, and Apple. He has worked extensively in developing countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Egypt, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Additionally, Ken is a past winner of the coveted Robin F. Garland Educator Award from the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA). He also directed the University of Missouri/NPPA Pictures of the Year Awards for four years.
