NETGEAR Powerline 2000 Reviews

Worked right away

It was a very easy setup: I connected the upstream powerline converter, then the downstream. It worked right away. Once I was sure it worked both ways, I turned on encryption. It took a few minutes to get that part going, but eventually it worked as well. For 40-year-old wiring through a breaker, we are getting 80Mbps unencrypted, and 60Mbps encrypted. Definitely useful although, of course, we'd prefer to be able to use direct Ethernet connectivity with our 1 Gbps service.

Poor support on replacing the defective unit.

I bought 4 units and only three work. The RMA is still not processed and it is clear support is not timely and responsive.

Are there smaller versions of these PL2000? I want to use the upper outlet.
Asked by: Stephen
The staff answer does not passthrough the power outlet. This removes any advantage in size it might have had.

The Netgear PLP2000 Powerline 2000 Network Extender Kit will have two Gigabit Ethernet ports. So you should get close to speeds as if you were connecting directly to the router.

How to secure the connection? Someone can buy the same version then connect on the outside outlet and with a press of the button, they can tap into my network?
Asked by: Quy
No, they would both need to be in paring mode to do so. The source and destination devices.
