Manfrotto Element Small Traveler Carbon Fiber... Overview

Designed for travelling photographers needing a reliable option that is still easy to carry, the black Element Carbon Fiber Small Traveler Tripod from Manfrotto is capable of holding professional camera gear weighing up to 13.2 lb. It pairs lightweight carbon fiber legs with a telescopic center column and an aluminum ball head, resulting in a capable yet compact package with a weight of 2.3 lb and a folded length of 12.6". When fully extended, the Element tripod can reach a notable maximum height of 56.3", while also going as low as 13.8" for dramatic low angle shots. Twist locks are deployed between each of the five leg sections, which makes the tripod easy to set up and tear down and is very useful for on location shooting. Additional features include two bubble levels and a carrying bag for easy transport.

Yes, the Manfrotto Element Carbon Fiber Small Traveler Tripod will hold a Nikon D800 with a Nikon 70-200mm lens attached. The setup will be the most stable if one does not extend the center column more than a third.

Yes, but it will be borderline stable, I would recommend a tripod with a higher load capacity, like the Mefoto Roadtrip or Globetrotter.

How is the drag control handled? with a separate knob?
Asked by: Frank
There are two knobs. One is a typical ball head friction control allowing full rotation of the ball. The other releases the base to rotate the head around the vertical axis through the center column. Exactly what you want in a small ball head. The whole tripod is very compact and I can fit it in a lens slot inside my messenger bag.

The ball head included with the Manfrotto Element Carbon Fiber Small Traveler Tripod is a good quality ball head. The ball head allows for smooth movement and has both a knob to control friction and a knob to control panning. It can control payloads with a combined weight of up to 8.8 lbs (4 kg).
