Manfrotto Element Small Traveler Carbon Fiber... Reviews

Excellent travel tripod that's also stable enough for astrop

I frequently travel internationally with my mirrorless gear and bought this tripod with size & weight in mind. I was pleasantly surprised to find out just how stable it is as well. Remove the center post and spread the legs out to the widest point to create a platform that can be used to shoot the stars. In a pinch, I had to use the tripod locally for with my big rig and it had no issues supporting the weight and bulk. Well designed product at a reasonable price point.

Thank goodness for Youtube....I am a senior with some weakness in my shoulders, etc. I was looking for a lightweight, simple tripod that I could carry along with my camera without struggling. I watched a lot of videos and decided to take a chance on this one despite the fact that the center column is fixed, and none of the legs are removable to form a monopod. It also is not very high when fully extended. Turns out for my simple needs it is perfect. BTW, my camera is a lightweight mirrorless Fujifilm. Hope this helps.

Small & lightweight but center column doesn't go down

I love it for the size and portability, very lightweight, but I was surprised the center column doesn't go down. Defeats the basic purpose of the tripod, you lose the stability of the three legs with the center column unable to drop down.

Compact and Lightweight

This is a super compact and lightweight tripod - exactly what I needed for traveling and hiking. It has rotation degree markings on the head which is super helpful for making panorama shots. The only thing to watch out for is the lower max height when compared to the larger tripods, be sure to take that into account for your needs.

I wanted to have lightweight tripod for daily use and it is fit for the purpose. If you have m43 camera, this is perfect.

Perfect for looking through binoculars seated. Nice and light but still very stable. If I could improve them I would make the ball head clamp a little wider to accommodate larger spotting scopes.

Good for it's price, but...

I used it already a few times now. I wanted a small light weight travel tripod and it does satisfy when you want a easy to carry tripod. But a few downsides are the colom is fixed, it doesn't go down, It's also not so quickly to set up for using, it takes some time to find the perfect angle for a steady standing feel.

Yes, but it will be borderline stable, I would recommend a tripod with a higher load capacity, like the Mefoto Roadtrip or Globetrotter.

How is the drag control handled? with a separate knob?
Asked by: Frank
There are two knobs. One is a typical ball head friction control allowing full rotation of the ball. The other releases the base to rotate the head around the vertical axis through the center column. Exactly what you want in a small ball head. The whole tripod is very compact and I can fit it in a lens slot inside my messenger bag.
