Venus Optics VEMFCN Overview

Expanding your choice of lenses when working with the Fujifilm GFX mirrorless camera, this Laowa Magic Format Converter MFC from Venus Optics enables you to use Nikon F-mount full-frame lenses with the Fujifilm G-mount medium format camera. Differing from a conventional, simple adapter, this sophisticated manual lens adapter employs an optical system to expand the image circle and magnification by 1.4x in order for the full-frame lens to cover the larger 44 x 33mm sensor of the GFX system. This optical system also helps to effectively prevent vignetting and maintains the optical clarity and sharpness of the original lens.

Enables the use of a full-frame Nikon F-mount lens on a Fujifilm G-mount (GFX) medium format mirrorless camera.
Expands the image circle and increases the magnification of the lens by 1.4x in order to cover the larger 44 x 33mm sensor without vignetting.
The increased 1.4x image magnification requires one additional stop of exposure for normal results.
Manual adapter does not transfer electronic signals from the lens to the camera and requires the use of manual focus and manual aperture selection.

Will this adapter work with the new GFX 100s and the Nikon PC-E NIKKOR 24mm f/3.5D ED Tilt-Shift Lens?
Asked by: Travis
It works with any Nikon F mount lens but note that no EXIF data is passed on as this is a non-electronic converter. Also note that it is essentially a 1.4x converter but since the focal length multiplier for going from full frame to 44x33 medium format is 0.79 you have to combine the 0.79 and the 1.4x resulting in your 24mm lens having the approximate full frame angle of view of 26.5mm when mounted on a GFX camera.

Is the converter working with Nikon F 400 mm lenses?
Asked by: Francesco
Yes but you will only be able to select an aperture if it is not an E lens - in other words it has to have a mechanical aperture stop down tab like the G lens or earlier in order to shoot at anything but wide open. Do realize that focus will be manual.

As the descripton says this magnifies by 1.4x, ...

As the descripton says this magnifies by 1.4x, the is the effective focal length of the Nikon F mount lens used also 1.4x (before accounting for the 0.79x "crop factor" of the larger Fujifil GFX sensor)? Example: a Nikon 50mm lens becomes 50 x 1.4 = 70mm? So on a GFX camera with this converter it behaves like a 70mm x 0.79 = ~56mm?
Asked by: Andrew
Correct the angle of view would be 56mm equivalent on the 35mm sensor

question

Is the tripod mount in the Laowa Magic Format Converter detachable?
Asked by: Pietro F.
It absolutely is detachable as I have done this to mine. It simply requires you to pull two screws with a small screwdriver and it comes right off.
