Battery backups

Purchased 2 of these due to rack depth and NEMA plug type. Heavy. Needed to stick with 15 amp as many venues worked with don't have 30s or 50s easily accessible. If you're in the market make sure to note the depth of the unit!

Stable UPS but won't support both NAS and computer via USB

By Timothy
Rated 3 out of 5

Got the UPS to safeguard data and set up a NAS. Sine Wave power gets 5 stars, but inability to communicate with both my NAS and desktop (mac) so both devices would power down after a power failure is a disappointment. Also unhappy that the control software won't run on my mac so LAN communication is a big failure.

Having to manage it only via the APC site is a NO!

There is no local web interface, the UPS have to be allowed to connect to the APC site in order to be configured - this is a big NO in any security conscious organization.

Just what I hoped

My previous UPS was very sensitive to voltage/frequency fluctuations from my standby generator. This unit not only has more capacity, it allows me to adjust the sensitivity to the fluctuations so it goes on generator power rather than beeping incessantly and turning off.

No like in the advertising photo

The photo shows a sleek, dark UPS that will easily disappear beneath a home office desk. The reality is it has an ugly, bright, non-removable sticker covering almost half the upper surface. If this didn't require immediate install I would have returned it rather than mask & spray paint that disgusting mess out of my studio. I expect the online photos to be accurate representations of what I am buying. Anything less is deceptive advertising.

Does everything you need and more

I've purchased a few of these units at this point and the APC UPS devices have always been flawless. Easy set up, and easy to maintain. They're worth spending a little more on and the email notifications are helpful in identifying power issues in an older building like the one I work in.

APC for places that experience frequent power interruptions

the power is frequently interrupted at our studio for a variety of reasons including bad weather and proximity to the beach. we use this to protect our workstations and the data on our server from outages and surges when the power comes back on. this is our 3rd backup unit. the last 2 lasted 10 years. would recommend.

The battery connector on the back of the UPS is a disconnect for the internal battery. It is open during shipping and when you receive the UPS you close the connection for normal operation. Basically a safety feature.
