APC SMT3000C Reviews

Finally made the move to a bigger unit...

This was a perfect upgrade to the systems. But there was 1 problem during shipping. The box completely came apart. A crack in the top of the front bezel was the result. My advice is APC should invest a little more in product support. Large enough to handle the use. So far no real test of the length of operation during power outage. But by the percentage I am confident it will be hours of use.

Quiet and Huge UPS

A fine unit. Note that this unit uses an L5-30P plug. (The P in the name means plug. R would mean receptacle.) My application uses a NEMA 5-20R. So I had to find a NEMA 5-20P to NEMA L5-30R adapter. They can be found via a search engine. Building supply store websites too. You can skip the plug hassle by buying a 2200 instead of a 3000. Same batteries, slightly lower power capability.

It will really depend on what you have plugged in. Please see the overview for a basic look at usage. You will need to calculate how much wattage all items being plugged in will pull for an hour and then calculate it from there.

Is there an ethernet port in the base unit ? And does this ethernet port support basic remote communication?
Asked by: Prof. Colette
Thank you for your interest in our products. The SMT3000C's SmartConnect port (ethernet port on back) would provide cloud-based monitoring of the UPS. Just please note that it doesn't allow you to control the UPS. If you need to remotely control the UPS you would need to purchase a network card for the UPS.

Follow Up question on APC Smart Card "AP9641" & SMT3000C (and also SMT2200C): Do these units *already* have less capable cards that would need to be removed to make room to make room for AP9641 ? If so: What is the best model in this form factor and VA Capacity to buy, with the goal of deploying UPS with AP9641 card?
Asked by: m.
Thank you for your interest in our products. You would not need to remove any card to install the AP9641. The only thing you would need to remove is the blanking panel that covers the slot where the card is installed.
