    Vanguard ALTA FLY 58T reviews

Alta Fly 58T Roller Bag (Black) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from As close to a perfect bag as I've owned (with compromises) After over-stuffing my Lowepro Tactical 450AW to the point of shoulder and back discomfort, I was in the market for a bag with wheels and a bit more room for my ever-increasing gear. This Alta Fly 58T Roller Bag seems to check all of the boxes. And while there is "no perfect bag", this one comes pretty close. The Good: - Very well made (stitching, materials, etc...) and the gear area is extreme well padded since the entire inner area can be removed and the bag used as a small suitcase. Nice. - The wheels are super-smooth and provided for a wide, stable stance, and the handle is perfect for pulling - The bag stands well-balanced on it wheels even when the front cover is "hanging" at 30degrees with my 15" MacBook Pro in it. - The outside quick access clips are well thought out, allowing for easy access to my camera without having to open the entire case. - The inside security clips are a nice touch, preventing the front cover from falling to the ground with a laptop in it while the bag is upright. - The mesh secondary cover does a great job keeping any loose gear from plummeting out if the bag isn't laying flat. - The "school bus" yellow is a bright and helps contrast gear. - The 58T is deeper than the 55T, allowing for an extra layer of things to be added (eg. my SpiderPro Dual belt lives on top of the gear, under the mesh cover). This extra depth also allow for flashes, lenses and full bodies to stand straight up, saving some layout space. - The shoulder straps and handles (top & side!) are thick and comfortable. My shoulders are happy. - The rear wheel covers are easily pulled from the hiding place and wrapped around the wheels, even with the bag on my back. - The yellow plastic pull knobs for the zippers is a nice touch too, making it super easy to find and open/close the bag. The Compromised: (i.e. "there's no perfect bag") - the smooth, rigid, contoured, bottom is solid (and a makes a nice footrest) but is a bit hard to grasp when attempting to move the bag while on its back. I got used to my Lowepro 450AW's bottom handle-strap. - the waist strap frequently got in the way of the wheels when rolling, so I removed it. I could have tucked it into the pockets designed for the real wheel covers, but that would have made it much more difficult to access the covers. Frankly I don't imagine ever needing the waist strap, but if I did I can always reattach it. - the tripod carrying solution (in the front) is well thought out and effective, but as a monopod user (sports mostly) I wish the bag had a better side-carrying option so as not to add to the bulkiness of the bag. The stretchy pocket on the side is ok, but I feel I'll shred it or stretch it out over time. We'll see. Just a personal preference. - Since most of the volume of this bag is on the inside (maxing out the size of the bag), there aren't as many outside pockets (especially if you have a tripod on). The two front pockets are quite nice and allow for some extra storage, but I wish there a couple of small pockets near the side tops. Overall, a near-perfect bag. Loving it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wedding Photographer's Dream I can finally show up for a wedding job with everything in one bag! No more multiple bags, trying to remember where all of my lenses, flashes, batteries etc. are. This bag is organized, easy to use, and I love having the option of using wheels or backpack-style. It's huge so if you pack light you should try a smaller option, but if you pack heavy like me, this bag is perfect!
