Sennheiser EK IEM G4-G Reviews

A Good IEM for ENG/EFP

I bought a handful of these receivers to use on set for client monitoring. I often use G3 ew112 systems as camera hops from my sound bag, in G Band, and needed something compatible as an IEM/IFB option. Though my primary system for on-set client monitoring is Lectrosonics, I was in need of a backup system when I had the opportunity to rent out my main sound package to a friend of mine for a larger show, but being booked on another show with my secondary package. He needed all the IFB I had available. So I added these Sennheiser G4 IEM receivers to take with me on the other show, and I'm glad I did. To use with G3/G4 ENG transmitters that are also transmitting to ENG receivers, simply turn off pilot tone on the IEM receiver and tune to the same frequency. Sound quality is excellent and range is great. But, as with any of the Sennheiser G3/G4 units, the construction quality is good but not perfect. Plastic parts won't hold up so well over extended use, especially with clients/producers who tend to drop things. And the molded antenna will start to droop quite soon after purchase, impacting range, so an SMA antenna modification is recommended (which will void the warranty, just FYI). All in all, this is a very good, affordable solution for client monitoring in film/TV production.

Hello, Can I use this with G4 SK500 Transmitter?

Hello, Can I use this with G4 SK500 Transmitter?

Yes, the Sennheiser EK IEM G4 Stereo Bodypack Receiver can be used with a Sennheiser SK 500 G4 Transmitter that operates within the same frequency band. If you will be using the IEM receiver with a transmitter that is paired with camera-mount or rack-mount receivers, you can turn off the pilot tone on the IEM receiver and manually tune it to the same frequency.
