This Cokin P Series Filter Kit contains three filters that can be used individually or in various combinations to improve the results of your travel photography. The included filters consist of an 84 x 84mm solid neutral density filter, an 84 x 100mm graduated neutral density filter, and a circular polarizer filter.

Together, these filters provide a versatile solution for various lighting conditions. To allow these filters to be placed in front of a lens, this kit contains a filter holder for a Cokin P Series Circular Polarizer Filter as well as rectangular Cokin P Series filters that are 84mm wide and 1.6mm thick.

This kit's filter wallet provides a secure and convenient, transport and storage solution for up to five Cokin P Series Filters, plus a Cokin P Series Filter Holder with an attached filter holder adapter ring, and three additional Cokin P Series filter holder adapter rings. For cleaning and maintenance of the filters which are made of durable, optical resin (CR39), a microfiber cloth is also included.

Cokin P Series Filter Holder

The Cokin P Series Filter Holder is designed to accommodate multiple Cokin P Series Filters in order to help create the shot you envision. It can hold up to three rectangular filters, or two rectangular filters and one round filter such as a rotating circular polarizer, for the Cokin P Series Filter Holders.

Rectangular Cokin P Series Filters are 84mm-wide and 1.6mm-thick. A Cokin P Series Filter Holder Adapter Ring can be used to connect this filter holder to the front of a lens.

Cokin P Series ND Filter (84 x 84mm, 3-Stop)

The 84 x 84mm Cokin P Series ND Filter is a neutral density filter providing a 3-stop exposure reduction. This 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

Cokin filters are constructed from optical resin and are notably light in weight, have a high resistance to shocks and drops, and provide optimum light transmission for high image quality. This filter is compatible with the Cokin P filter holder.

0.9 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a 3-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Neutral density filters do not affect the overall coloration of the image.
Filter measures 3.3 x 3.3" / 84 x 84mm and is compatible with the Cokin P filter holder.
Cokin P Series Hard-Edge Graduated ND Filter (84 x 100mm, 2-Stop)

This Cokin P Series Hard-Edge Graduated ND Filter is designed for use with a Cokin P Series Filter Holder. It helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a hard-edged line of transition is useful for images which include defined horizon lines. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and this filter provides up to a 2-stop reduction in light from entering a lens.

This filter is made of durable, optical resin (CR39) and measures 1.6mm thick.

  • Compatible with a Cokin P Series Filter Holder
  • Darkens bright areas of an image, such as skies, while leaving the remainder of the frame unaffected
  • Provides up to a 2-stop reduction of light in selective areas
  • Hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas
  • Useful for images which include defined horizon lines
  • Filter does not affect the overall coloration of the image
  • Constructed from optical resin (CR39) for clarity and durability

Cokin P164 Circular Polarizer Glass Filter

This is the P164 Circular Polarizer Glass Filter from Cokin. It fits in the optional Cokin P Holder. Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. A polarizer helps make a blue sky bluer as well as making clouds stand out. It can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

Note:
Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)

Cokin P3068 P Series Filter Wallet

This Cokin P3068 P Series Filter Wallet is a secure and convenient, transport and storage solution for up to five Cokin P Series Filters, plus a Cokin P Series Filter Holder with an attached filter holder adapter ring, and three additional Cokin P Series filter holder adapter rings.

Five padded, nonabrasive slots occupy half of the filter wallet and can each accommodate a Cokin P Series filter measuring 84 x 84mm or 84 x 100mm, or a Cokin P Series Polarizer Filter that is designed to be rotated within a filter holder. The slots can be easily accessed by opening the filter wallet's zippered closure and releasing its filter slot retaining strap. One end of the retaining strap is attached to the inside wall of the filter wallet, while the opposite end features a touch-tab fastener that connects to filter slot closest to the center of the filter wallet. When in use, this retaining strap stretches over the filter slots, helping to prevent any inserted filters from accidentally sliding out while the filter wallet is opened.

The remaining half of the filter wallet is a compartment with a wide, elastic retaining strap. That compartment accommodates a Cokin P Series Filter Holder with an attached filter holder adapter ring or a Cokin P Series Wide-Angle Filter Holder with an attached filter holder adapter ring. Along with one of either type of those Cokin P Series filter holders and an attached adapter ring, three additional Cokin P Series filter holder adapter rings can be placed within the filter holder compartment as well.

To further prevent any items from accidentally falling out when the filter wallet is opened, two pairs of safety gussets along its inside edge each connect using a touch tab fastener to form two hinges. When in use, these hinges prevent the P3068 P Series filter wallet from opening to angle that is greater than 90°.

This filter wallet's exterior is constructed from EVA plastic for durability, and an adjustable, clip-on wrist strap provides a convenient carrying option.

Cornerstone of R&D Project

For some time I have been considering buying one of the various square filter kits, but whenever I costed out a full kit I suffered a case of 'sticker shock'. Before I would ever be comfortable laying out a significant chunk of change on one of these kits, I had a lot of questions that I needed answers to. Questions like: Would I use actually use the filter kit enough to make it a worthwhile expenditure? Do I really need graduated neutral density (GND) filters, or can my image processing software plus the dynamic range of my cameras allow me to get by without physical filters? How well do the filters and my image processing software deal with irregular horizons? Do I really want to carry that much more 'stuff' when I'm out shooting? What type of filters would I need (hard vs soft edges, what strengths)? What size filters do I need? How often will I shoot with both GND and polarizing filters? I had those questions, plus plenty more. I kicked those questions around for quite a while, but never made progress towards getting satisfactory answers to any of them. Sure, there is a lot of information about these filter kits on the web, but a lot of the information appears to be biased towards one brand or another, and none of the information I found could address my specific concerns of how well this kind of kit would work for *me* given how and what I shoot. Then I decided to break the logjam by doing a bit of R&D to help me get answers to my questions - I ordered the Cokin Filter Kit and used it. Sure, buying the kit cost me a few bucks, but the total cost of the Cokin kit plus a couple of lens adapter rings came to just about same dollar amount as ONE of the filters in the kind of kits I was considering. I already had a couple of older Cokin P series sized GND filters that I had never used, which I included in my testing. As an R&D effort, I needed to limit the scope of what I was testing with. The Cokin P series filters are too small to fit my full frame ultra wide angle (UWA) lens, but the P series filters do work with my crop sensor UWA lens, so I limited my UWA testing to that lens. The goal of my testing was to help me to get answers to my questions without a major financial expenditure, not as the first step in buying a kit that fits every lens I have. So, has my experience using the Cokin kit helped me make a decision? Yes it has. Working with the Cokin kit has helped me answer a lot of the questions I had. Some of the concerns I had turned out not to be all that important. Conversely, working with the Cokin kit has also taught me that some of the things I thought I needed I don't really need at all. All in all, buying the Cokin kit has been a very worthwhile expenditure for me and will almost certainly save me money in the long run.

LOVE THIS KIT

Yes, I am shouting! I love the Cokin system. These filters have allowed me to do better and better work with slowing shutter speed down for water movement shots. Using a combination of these filters gives you so much better control over the original shot leaving less to do at the printing end. Well constructed and should last a good many years.

What size filter rings come in the traveller's kit?
Asked by: Rod
The Cokin P-series Traveler's Kit does not come with the required lens filter adapters to attach the filter holder to your lens. You may purchase them separately, and they are available in various sizes, between 48mm to 82mm sizes. https://bhpho.to/3DIV0aK
