Styled in a natural low-gloss finish, the Ibanez BTB740 is a four-string electric bass with a mahogany and ash wing body, as well as a walnut top. Its five-piece 35"-scale neck is crafted out of maple and walnut, with graphite reinforcement rods as well. The neck is joined to the body in the neck-through-body style, which bolsters sustain. Atop the neck sits a jatoba fingerboard with 24 medium stainless-steel frets and abalone dot inlays. A Mono-Rail V bridge affixes strings to the body.
For electronics, the instrument utilizes two Bartolini BH2 soapbar pickups, which provide a tight low end, a punchy midrange, and a smooth response overall. An on-board Ibanez Custom Electronics EQ gives you a three-position midrange control, and the ability to boost or cut the lows, mids, or highs. A pickup-balancer knob and a volume knob help you shape your timbre further.
