Ibanez AZ2204 Overview

Styled in an tri fade burst flat finish, the Ibanez Prestige Series AZ2204 is an electric guitar with a double-cutaway body. It sports an alder body with a bright, upper-midrange forward response that'll cut through the mix on stage or in the studio.

Its neck, which offers a 25.5" scale, is crafted out of maple that's been roasted to stability, durability, and a feel more commensurate with vintage instruments than out-of-the-box axes. Atop the neck sits a roasted maple fingerboard with 24 stainless-steel jumbo frets. Black dot inlays are provided, as are luminescent side inlays that help you track fret positions on darkened stages. Strings are anchored to the body by a Gotoh T1802 tremolo bridge, while the headstock makes use of Gotoh MAGNUM LOCK machine heads.

For electronics, this guitar employs two Seymour Duncan Hyperion humbucking pickups. These feature a moderate output to preserve the clarity of your tone, even when you're playing through heaps of distortion. They also help you retain the definition of your pick attack, though not at the expense of tonal balance.

The guitar gives you a 5-way pickup selector switch. Two different pickup configurations are available through the Alter mini-switch. This gives you effectively 10 different guitar tones, some humbucker-based, some sounding more single-coil in timbre. Volume and tone knobs are also on hand to shape your sound. A hardshell case is included.

S-TECH WOOD Roasted Maple Neck
S-TECH roasted treatment increases the wood's stability, durability, water resistance, and tolerance of temperature changes. The neck is sealed with an oil finish, which helps make it feel similar to a well-played guitar neck.
Roasted Maple Fingerboard with Black Dot Inlays
S-TECH roasted treatment provides an excellent attack, a well-balanced tone, and a rich sustain. In order to achieve supreme neck grip comfort, the fingerboard edge is finished with a smooth curve.
Super All Access Neck Joint
The Super All Access Neck Joint offers eminent playability with its 8mm concave curve from the top of the body to the spherical surface of the joint. By maximizing the joint area between the body and the neck, sustain and resonance are increased as well.
Luminescent Side Dot Inlay
The luminescent side dot position marks make it easy for players to see fingerboard position marks when performing on dark stages.
Gotoh Magnum Lock Machine Heads with Height-Adjustable Posts
The AZ comes with Gotoh MAGNUM LOCK machine heads, which have an established reputation for tuning stability. Its H.A.P. (height adjustable post) system allows for the adjustment of string posts for the appropriate tension of each string.
Oil-Impregnated Bone Nut and Stainless-Steel Frets
The oil-impregnated bone nut provides excellent tuning stability and warm, rich resonance. Stainless-steel frets foster corrosion resistance. The wide and tall jumbo fret type offers a quick response, good articulation when playing chords, and clear tone when playing single notes.
Ergonomic Body-Back Contour
A shallow body back contour and a big forearm contour allow the guitar to fit the player naturally, thus increasing playing comfort. The AZ body has a deep waist and different radii on each body edge curve, making it easier to play in both standing or sitting positions.
Seymour Duncan Hyperion Pickups
Seymour Duncan Hyperion Pickups feature a moderate output through Alnico 5 magnets to preserve the clarity of the fundamental tone when using a distortion sound. These pickups also deliver a clear pick attack. From treble to bass, the overall tonal balance is evenly adjusted, and works well with various effect pedals.
dyna-MIX 10 Switching System with Alter Switch
The dyna-MIX 10 system offers ten sound variations, and can easily move from humbucker to single-coil modes through the mini switch. The power Tap mode provides a realistic single coil sound despite its two humbucker pickup layout.
Gotoh T1802 Synchronized Bridge
The T1802 tremolo bridge features machined titanium saddles and a machined tremolo block for a quick response and a rich, thick tone throughout the frequency spectrum. The 10.5mm string spacing allows for easy picking across strings. Its snap-in construction makes it easy to load a tremolo arm.
