Vortex Impact 850 overview

  • 1Description

The Vortex Optics 6x20 Impact 850 Laser Rangefinder gives you the critical edge and confidence to take that long-range shot.

The powerful eye safe IR laser can range out to 850 yards to reflective targets, or deer-sized targets up to 400 yards away. Integrated into the ranging system is an inclinometer that measures the relative angle between you and your target and displays an adjusted range distance for you to more accurately calculate your ballistic drop compensation (BDC) and improve your first-shot accuracy. For purists, a traditional line of sight option is available that provides the actual linear distance without compensating for the angle. With a ranging time of less than a second, your choice of spot or scan modes, the option of showing readings in yards or meters, an auto-off function, the Impact 850 rangefinder is fast and easy to use.

The uncluttered non-illuminated display is easy to read without interfering with the view while a simple 2-button menu-driven interface makes navigating the system functions and options quick. A collar around the eyepiece brings the view into sharp focus, with a comfortable eye relief that won't cause eye strain. The compact form factor is ergonomically designed to be used one-handed, and with a weight of just 5.5 ounces it can be packed and carried all day without fatigue or excessive bulk.

    Vortex Impact 850 reviews

6x20 Impact 850 Laser Rangefinder is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome new product! This is the first rangefinder I've ever owned. I've used other ones before and this is the best one I've found for the price. It is quick to pick up and very accurate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gift for my dad and he loves it! I bought the Impact range finder 2 Xmas's ago and he's used it every time he's been out hunting since. He mostly crossbow hunts now but old eyes are getting more difficult to tell the difference between 30 and 50! Those make major changes in the way you aim your crossbow for those that don't know. It's the difference in hitting the kill zone vs hitting the dirt by its feet at 50 yards on a whitetail. He loves it and I'm thinking about buying myself one or the next model up to help with my rifle hunting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good range finder but. I bought this rangefinder for hunting, its an amazing product. Vortex always shows up. I only buy Vortex for optics. However going into the 3d archery session I noticed that it doesn't read well on all black targets like bears and hogs. I talked 4 guys into buying this finder and all of us have the same issue. It will not pick up 3d targets that are black. Step your game up vortex :) Love you guys. #teamvortex

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Budget Hunters Recently ordered the Impact after looking through it at work one day. I love the readout (even though it isn't red), how accurate it is and how quick it displays. For someone looking for quality at a decent price this is where to go. I'm excited to keep using it this season. The only thing I would've loved to see was the pocket clip like the Rangers have, everything else is awesome for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price Vs Performance Great Value for what I need it for. Used it to set up my range on my property. Used a 100 ft measuring ribbon and measured 5 yrd target to 100 yrd target. I used the Impact 850 for a follow up measurement for curiosity... it was dead on measurements to the target. Targets measure were trees that the target was hung on. The 100 yrd target was a 18 inch gong spray painted with high lighter orange from Walmart use for marking soccer field or under ground line during road construction. As other stated elsewhere, this one post black text which makes it hard to see if you dont have young eyes or have difficulty with low contrast. I was fine with it in the sunshade wood of my range. Another $170 will get you the next tier Vortex with red text and longer range if that is what you need. Hope this helps

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value and performance Just got this rangefinder for Christmas from my wife. Have had it out a few times now and it seems to work just as Vortex says it does. If you are a big game hunter in more open country, you might want to consider one of the Ranger models, only due to the fact that sometimes it's nice to get a feel for the distance some of those much further off animals may be and how much distance you need to close to make an ethical shot. But I have enjoyed using this Impact 850 model so far.
