Schoeps MiniCMIT Overview

The Schoeps MiniCMIT Mono Pianissmo Set is a miniature shotgun microphone with a windscreen set designed for mono recording of dialog and instruments indoors or outdoors in windy conditions. It includes a Schoeps MiniCMIT shotgun condenser microphone, basket-type windscreen set, and fur cover.

The MiniCMIT boasts a wide frequency response, excellent off-axis rejection, and a fixed low-cut filter at 70 Hz. The included PIANI-1 windscreen set features a polycarbonate shell and a suspension module to cradle the microphone and eliminate handling noise. Install the supplied fur cover over the protective cage for enhanced immunity to wind noise without compromising acoustical transparency.

The PIANI-1's two-axis swivel allows flexible positioning. Audio connectivity is simplified via the integrated XLR extension.

Schoeps' mini shotgun mic is amazing on a boom pole or our fx6/fx3 setups. These microphones are seriously some of the best in the business. They are priced at a premium but if i had the budget for it, I would choose this microphone every single time.

Can I mount this Windscreen Set directly on my ...

Can I mount this Windscreen Set directly on my camera (URSA Cine) which has 1/4" mounting holes?

The Schoeps MiniCMIT Mono Pianissmo Set MiniCMIT Miniature Shotgun Microphone with Windscreen Set is designed to be attached to a boompole and the downward facing placement of the XLR connector would make attaching the unit to a camera exceedingly tricky. With the correct adapter to convert the 3/8-16" thread to 1/4"-20 such as B&H # IMCA109, however, the windscreen could be attached to a camera.

Will the Nimbus windshield sit against the front clip of the mount close enough to have the four thin slots not blocked?

Yes, the Nimbus windshield included with the Schoeps MiniCMIT RAD-2 Set Short Shotgun Microphone with Radius RAD-2 Shockmount and Nimbus Windshield (Blue) will fit properly over the Mini CMIT microphone, without blocking the four thin acoustic slots.

The Schoeps MiniCMIT RAD-2 Set Short Shotgun Microphone with Radius RAD-2 Shockmount and Nimbus Windshield (Blue) is made to mount behind all of the lines on the shotgun mic, but it does not need to be mounted behind the lines of the shotgun mic.

Since the MiniCMIT lacks built-in filters, can anyone comment about this mic paired with the low cut filter in the Rycote Nano Windshield system?

The Schoeps MiniCMIT Short Shotgun Microphone is compatible for use with the Rycote Nano Shield Windshield Kit NS2-CA for Microphones up to 6.1" Long (B&H # RYWKNS2CA264). The low-cut filter on the Nano Windshield should work effectively since it will function in line with the microphone.

question

anyone have a preferred softie windjammer for this mic that doesn't add too much bulk to it? lots of the ones listed for accessories here are for regular length shotguns. thanks

I have a Rycote Softie that says 21/22 on the end of it. it works fine. it's about 8" (9" with the fur), there might be a little space inside, but it doesn't affect anything. I also did purchase the Kit H# RY086072, the dead cat that comes with it does not fit the zeppelin. it is about 6" too long. I had to have wardrobe dept modify to make smaller. I was told they don't make one that actually fits the zep. the minicmit does come with a nice blue foam windscreen fyi.

For the included accessories with the Schoeps MiniCMIT RAD-2 Set Short Shotgun Microphone with Radius RAD-2 Shockmount and Nimbus Windshield (Blue), the RAD-2 shockmount weighs approximately 3.1 oz (87g) and the XLR jumper cable weighs approximately 2.1 oz (60g).
