It features a maximum T-stop of 2, and the aperture does not ramp over the zoom range. It shares common lens gear positions with the other lens in the Sigma High-Speed Zoom lineup, which makes for rapid lens changes. What sets these lenses apart from the standard Sigma High Speed Zooms is fully luminescent markings. When shooting in dim or dark environments, focus pullers and camera operators will be able to easily discern lens markings without resorting to distracting lamps or other disruptive light sources.

The Sigma 18-35mm T2 Cine High-Speed Zoom Lens with a Sony E-mount and with focus scales marked in feet provides an image circle that covers Super 35mm-sized sensors. The 9-bladed iris provides round out-of-focus highlights for a natural-looking bokeh. The lens barrel features 180° of rotation from close focus to infinity, the zoom barrel rotates 160°, and the clickless iris ring features 60° of rotation. All three lens control rings are geared with cine-standard 0.8 Mod gears, and the focus scale is marked in feet. The front of the lens is 95mm in diameter with a removable 1/4"-20 support foot that helps support the lens with the aid of a 1/4"-20 rod-mounted lens support (not included).

Color Balance

All the lenses in the lineup are designed to comply with SIGMA's CCI standard simplifying when intercutting between lenses.

Dustproof and Splashproof Design

Sharing the same dustproof and splashproof construction as the SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM|Sports, each ring and mount is sealed to prevent water and dust from entering.

All-Metal Body Construction

The lens body is made completely of metal to stand up to the rigors of the production day.

Lens Markings

The main lens markings are in luminous paint for easy visibility in low light situations. The intermediate markings are laser-engraved for durability. The focus and zoom markings are readable from either side of the lens.

Lens Front

The lens features a 95mm front diameter for compatibility with a wide variety of matte boxes and incorporates an 82mm front filter thread.

Lens Gears

All three lens gears are standard 0.8 Mod and feature a damper that eliminates metallic sounds when you reach the end of the lens travel.

Support Foot

The lens includes a removable support foot.

question

Is it parfocal?
Asked by: Sean C.
I just received mine & my previous answer stands. It goes soft around 30mm if I have a tight focus at 18mm & zoom. Definitely not parfocal, but definitely a beautiful lens.

question

Will this work on a 1dx mark ii for video?
Asked by: Broden H.
This lens is meant to cover Super35 which is a 1.6x crop of full-frame. The 1DX Mark II's 4K is a 1.4x crop. Therefore this lens cannot cover it. If you were to mount it on the camera, 35mm will probably be fine but zooming out the 18mm, you would definitely get vignetting. We suggest using full-frame lenses for the 1DX Mark II 4K recording.

question

Is it an Autofocus lens? Does it have image sabilizaiton with the Sony XDCAM PXWFS7?
Asked by: Kerly
This is a Cinema Lens, which means it will be completely manual for focus, iris and zoom control. It does not have Image Stabilization either. For features like Auto Focus and Image Stabilization you need to look at Photography Style E-Mount Lenses instead.https://bhpho.to/2Bu8573

What is the difference between this lens and the sigma 18-35 that is much cheaper?
Asked by: James
This cinema lens is manual focus only, has gears, greater throw, accurate markings and more robust housing made with finer tolerances. This are specifications that come into play on higher level video productions particularly ones that are working day to day with a crew. For one man band personal video it could be overkill.

Does this lens have electronic contacts to communicate with the camera? Will it work with the focus assist feature of the Canon cinema cameras like the CN-E primes do? (Not autofocus, but the green box indicator)
Asked by: Matt
These lenses have electronic contacts and will communicate. We are unable to test but it is our opinion that focusing aids will work.
