APC SurgeArrest overview

  • 1Description

Provide professional-grade electrical protection against power surges and spikes for computers and electronics using the black Home Office SurgeArrest 8-Outlet Surge Protector from APC. This unit has eight NEMA 5-15R outlets, three of which are spaced to accommodate larger transformer plugs, and a standard NEMA 5-15P input connection. It uses an input voltage of 120V @ 50/60 Hz with a 15A input/line current, and has a surge energy rating of 2160 joules. This SurgeArrest model utilizes an integrated 6' power cord and turns on and off using a recessed power switch. Protection is provided by a limited lifetime warranty, and connected equipment that is damaged while the SurgeArrest is active will be covered up to $150,000, subject to APC's terms and conditions.

General Features

Right-Angle Plug
A 90° plug angle allows for equipment and furniture to be placed closer to the wall than with a standard power cord. This also reduces cord stress.

Safety

Catastrophic Event Protection
SurgeArrest components such as MOVs and thermal fuse help ensure an instantaneous reaction to lightning strikes and wiring faults. If the surge components are damaged due to power spikes or over voltage, excess power cannot reach your equipment. Unlike the APC SurgeArrest products, most surge suppressors continue to let power through even after circuits have been damaged, leaving your equipment exposed to other damaging surges.
Fail-Safe Mode
Most other surge suppressors continue to let power through even after their circuits have been damaged, leaving your equipment exposed to future surges. With APC's SurgeArrest fail-safe, once the circuit of an APC SurgeArrest has been compromised, the unit disconnects equipment from the power supply, helping to ensure that no damaging surges reach your equipment.

Convenience

Protection Working Indicator
SurgeArrest will warn you if its circuitry has been damaged by a heavy strike or power line surge and it is unable to provide 100% protection. If still under warranty, APC will then replace your damaged SurgeArrest free of charge.
Building Wiring Fault Indicator
This LED informs users of potentially dangerous wiring problems in the wall circuit.
Adjustable Cable Management
Keeps cords and cables neat and organized.
Receptacle Shock Safety Shutters
Shutters help protect users from accidental contact with unused outlets.
Transformer Block Spacing
Connect bulky transformer block plugs without covering up other outlets.
180° Rotating Cord Retainer
A 180° rotating cord with strain relief offers flexibility in positioning the SurgeArrest and in routing the power cord.

Protection

Lightning and Surge Protection
This helps prevent damage to your equipment from electric power surges and spikes.
IEEE Let-Through Ratings and Regulatory Agency Compliance
APC surge protectors undergo stringent testing by the IEEE, and have been awarded "let-through ratings," which indicate the maximum voltage level that can possibly reach your equipment after a surge or voltage spike has passed through an electric surge protector. Lower IEEE let-through ratings indicate better protection and performance. The APC SurgeArrest series offers performance with a let-through rating of less than 330V for North American products, and a rating of less than 15% for products sold worldwide. All APC products comply with local agency safety requirements, including UL in North America and CE/Kema/Gost/C-tick/A-Tick/Telepermit in their respective regions.
Noise Filtering
Attenuates EMI/RFI line noise that can cause data errors and keyboard lockups, helping to ensure better performance of protected equipment.

    APC SurgeArrest reviews

Home Office SurgeArrest 8-Outlet Surge Protector (6', 120V, Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product with great design This surge protector has 5 standard outlets along one side and 3 adapter spaced outlets that fit both normal and sideways formats on the other. Power switch is solid and the on/protected lights are very bright and easy to see. The shape is very flat and square, 3" x 9.5", which makes it fit in well on a cluttered desk and stable when adding or removing plugs. The technical features are excellent. Probably the best part of this product is the warranty, both lifetime warranty on the product and the equipment protection policy. The PH8 doesn't protect phone lines, USB or coax but there are other models that do. Overall a good buy for great protection from a reliable company. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Sleek design and sturdy. The back of the power strip has two recesses so it can be mounted to a wall either vertically or horizontally. Three of the eight outlets allow you to plug in those bulky A/C adapters...with plenty of room to spare. Each outlet is tight and secure upon plugging something in. I've bought several other brands that were loose upon plugging something in and allowed the plug to move. That's not safe to me. The wall plugin is flat and allows the thick power cord to lay flush with the wall. That, in itself, is huge in my book. The ground and protection LEDs are very bright and are able to be seen at nearly every angle. No more walking over it to see if you're protected. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A quality unit I waited to write this review to give it some usage time. So far it has worked very well. This is a well built and designed unit. The indicator lights are a nice plus. It has a heavy duty cord and allows for 3 transformers. The plugs fit nice and secure into the unit. Besides the extra plugs; I feel comfortable that it will protect my equipment from a voltage surge as we get those in my area [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great surge protection I received this power strip on a trial basis. The strip is well made. The five plugs are oriented in a linear fashion. This works great for standard plugs. There are three well placed outward plugs for power adapters. Since I have many power adapters to attach the alignment did not allow use with my computers but worked well for the audiovisual equipment [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite Surge Arrest With limited floor space in my office I find the slim feature but with plenty of outlets is really a great asset the thr one I had was too wide and took up too much spaced. I find not only is it easy to lay flat onthe floor and I can mount it on the wall there are so many options. I would recommend this unit to anyone. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product works I use the APC Home Office SurgeArrest to protect my new water heater and water softener. These products have small computers as most home appliances do these days. Our power provider - Rocky Mountain Power - has frequent outages and voltage deviations. I have experienced no issues with the APC Home Office SurgeArrest. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
