You turn the lantern on and off, choose settings, and dim to exactly the brightness you want using a swipe panel, rather than a traditional push-button interface. The lantern collapses for transport and expands for use. Its folding legs have notches to hang the light from a rope, and there's a hanging loop on the top. The diffuser globe can be removed to reveal a spot beam, and you can configure the legs to aim the beam where you need it. The lantern is also a good tent light with the globe off.
